Far Cry 5 is an excellent game that brings numerous improvements over its predecessors. The villains are well-written, with compelling backstories and top-notch voice acting that adds depth to the narrative. I particularly enjoyed the inclusion of sub-bosses before the final antagonist—this design choice enhances the game's structure and makes the journey feel more rewarding.

One of the biggest highlights for me was the introduction of helicopters and airplanes. While both are enjoyable, helicopters are an absolute game-changer, adding a new layer of excitement and freedom to exploration and combat. The game builds on the successful formula of previous entries, expanding and refining the core mechanics. For the most part, everything feels improved—with one notable exception: the in-game economy.

Earning money is noticeably more grind-heavy than in earlier titles, which left a somewhat sour taste. Acquiring and purchasing weapons felt less engaging and rewarding compared to previous Far Cry games, which diminished the overall satisfaction of progression.

DLC Content

The DLCs are a major highlight and far exceeded my expectations. Each expansion offers a unique experience and keeps the gameplay fresh and exciting.

The Vietnam DLC delivers a grounded and realistic portrayal of war, offering a refreshing change of pace from the base game. I wouldn't mind seeing a full game based on this concept.

Lost on Mars is a fun, otherworldly adventure. The space suit mechanics, including playing with gravity and floating, add a unique and enjoyable twist to exploration and combat. Although the weapons felt somewhat underwhelming, the overall experience was enjoyable. It's also a nice touch that you can bring those overpowered weapons back into the main game.

Dead Living Zombies is an action-packed thrill ride. The chaotic zombie carnage is incredibly entertaining, providing an adrenaline-pumping conclusion to the DLC lineup.

Achievements

For the most part, earning achievements in Far Cry 5 is enjoyable and adds an extra layer of challenge to the game. However, some achievements can be quite grind-heavy, particularly in the Dead Living Zombies DLC, where you need to kill 5,000 zombies. Multiplayer achievements are also a chore due to the limited number of active players, making it difficult to complete them without seeking out dedicated achievement hunters.

I personally dislike multiplayer achievements in games that are primarily single-player oriented, and this aspect is a definite downside. For players who enjoy completing every aspect of a game, these achievements can feel more frustrating than rewarding.

Final Thoughts

When I first played Far Cry 5, I rushed through the main story due to burnout from playing Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 4 consecutively. At the time, the experience felt a bit underwhelming. However, revisiting the game with a fresh perspective has been amazing. The improvements, engaging storylines, and thrilling DLCs made this playthrough far more enjoyable.

Overall, Far Cry 5 offers a fantastic open-world adventure with memorable characters, exciting gameplay, and impressive expansions. Despite the grind-heavy economy, the game delivers an immersive and action-packed experience. 9/10

Super fun to play with wife or someone else. It has easy mechanics so its fantastic if you look to bring someone, who has little to no experience with games, into games(like wife). I was skeptical about the game, but when i started playing it i had lots of fun.

Amazing game. Recomended for all of the fans of Witcher world and lore. It provides amazing backstory set before events of the games and WItcher series. I don't know what I have enjoyed more story or Gwent gameplay...

This is how a game about surviving zombie apocalypse should look like!

Singleplayer part is decent, multiplayer not so much. It was fun and it kept me engaged, but i cant say that is is masterpiece of a game. I cant pinpoint exact reason for it, but this game felt lacking. I guess combat progression is the reason why it felt a bit lackluster. Even so, it was fun and engaging experience.

Pulled couple of sneaky ones on us, Bob Ross would be proud.

Amazing game, would be unjust to leave it after one playthrough only. The effort that they put in branching story is tremendous. Also, i have enjoyed unlocking extra content about development of the game and good thing is how you can see only little of it after every chapter. Certainly, it is a way to prevent player to be overwhelmed by this content. For me it was valuable insight which made me appreciate work by these developers even more.

Storywise, more or less you should be already familiar with the main premise, but what you can expect is a great dilemma about existance and freedom. It will certainly keep you engaged and on the edge. But it is not about philosophy only, there is a lot of emotions. Developers made astonishing blend of epicness, rationalism and emotion which in result promises greatness. Definitely must play!

Captivating story and graphics. Combat felt a bit lacking, at some point of the game.I think it's because I didn't pay enough attention to merchants at urban areas. They sell better gear, so for some time, in middle of the game, I had to be rather evasive, until I figured where to buy better equipment. That's when the real fun starts. Overall, amazing game, enjoyed every second of it, except that middle part of the game.

Noice!

Oh my Dear God, such an amazing game. I think that most of us(me included) tend to use masterpiece adjective so casually for lot of good games. But not for this game. This game deserves all praises for it is a true horror masterpiece. To this day I was only amazed by one great horror game and that was RE7. But this experience is on another level for me. This game got perfect mixture of narrative and action while beeing mainly focused on horror.

A good friend of mine used to say that horror game is not really horror if you have wepons at hand. That may be true, but not in this case. Here you can never eliminate threat, you can only fend it off for a little bit. That way you can never be rid of tension. You are always feeling tension and adrenaline.

It is trully fascinating how they managed to make such long story in this genre, while it being continuously interleaved with tension. To a great extent, that was due to great narrative and storytelling rounded with perfect story setting. It has everything that perfect horror game needs to have, in my opinion.

One last thing, druing gameplay, on many occasions, I just wished for game to end, not because it grew tedious, rather I was overwhelmed with stress and tension. That definitively speaks about quallity of the horror aspect in this game.

Such an amazing game. It is superb on so many levels. I felt that combat mechanics, as amazing and enjoyable as they were, were ruining immersion at some point. Story really tends to suck you in. I was immersed in this world that i got very emotional at some points of the game. This game left me with a bittersweet felling. I wished nothing but happiness for this courageous group of people. Definitely worths every euro.

Great game with nice pacing. It lacks combat and it is more exploring oriented. I dont mind that, at least not that much that it would leed me to disliking the game.

I don't know, I think that i have enjoyed, second part in the series, more. It was more action packed, in my opinion.

Some things makes no sense rational wise, but after all we play games to have fun(most of the time) not to get philosophical, right?
