Great little game with a lot of atmosphere. I haven't completed the game yet, but I've enjoyed every minute of it so far. The retro graphics really work in the game's favor, the devs are highly responsive on Discord and the game has been getting regular updates and improvements over the last several weeks, as of this review.

Many FPS games struggle to get platforming right, but this is something Goldenheart excels at. I really enjoy the puzzles as well, and the boss fights are a ton of fun.

Well worth a purchase.

Short, but fun game. I finished it in a little over 3 hours, so for the $2.99 price point, not a bad use of my time.

First things first, it would have been unplayable for me without the accessibility features to turn off the wobbly CRT effect, and turn down screen shake and white flashes. Even with those features, the game is an eyestrain nightmare and gave me some unpleasant side effects. I'm a gamer with epilepsy - honestly most games I can play safely with a few accessibility tweaks, but I always felt like I was playing with fire with this one. Be forewarned if you have any photosensitivity issues.

The unlockables are really fun, and there were some unusual surprises to liven things up. I like how certain upgrades required different currencies, and how completing an upgrade would often unlock something new to pursue.

The final grind is really anticlimactic. I was expecting to unlock a new content tier, but you just grind for a bit to unlock the ability to grind more to see the ending. I wish there was more content. I'd love to see some additional enemy colors, and more things to use the different currencies on.

The music is slow and chill and I really enjoyed it, but as the pace of the game accelerates, the music starts to feel really out of sync with the amount of effects popping. It would be cool if the game had some sort of jukebox feature so you could select faster tempo songs later on.

All in all, I enjoyed it, and it was a good game for a lazy weekend evening.

This is a fun Survivors-like with a lot of progression depth. I do wish there were more game modes or bosses. Graphics are okay, not wild about them, but they grow on you. The music gets repetitive, so I tend to mute it and watch anime or listen to music in the background. Overall, though, I really enjoy this one.

Does what it wants to do really well. This game feels like an old Atari 2600 game or something you'd find in the arcade at the bowling alley back in the day. Very challenging, with good player choice options in your upgrades.

I'd like to see the ability to move with arrow keys and maybe a couple of additional music tracks.

Really fun action roguelike. The game is free, has a cool vision mechanic with two vision modes (circle and cone), each of which have their own playstyle. Tons of upgrades, some cool build options, lots of weapon variety. The game has a great eerie vibe to it, and the challenge level is just right -- satisfyingly difficult, but not so punishing that it feels impossible to progress.

Speaking as a gamer with photosensitive epilepsy, props to the developer for including several amazing accessibility features, including options to adjust screen shake, turn off scan lines and other graphical effects. Action roguelike is a tough genre for me to play because the nature of the genre tends to lean towards triggering visual effects, so seeing a developer add lots of accessibility options is always a benefit. I would like to see an option to adjust the transparency of the "fog" effect, though. Even with accessibility options, the game's start black-and-white contrast gave me a bit of a headache after a while, although I doubt it would affect the average gamer.

As of the time I'm writing this, the game does use a bit of AI art in the upgrade icons. The dev has plans to replace those with custom art soon, but it's something to be aware of if you have ethical questions about using AI art, in which case you might want to wait until a later update to give the game a try.

9/10 for me.

I really enjoy this game. The art style grew on me. Movement is smooth and the gameplay gets very challenging in the later tiers. The expanding passive tree is a great concept, allowing for some RNG to make every run different while still allowing you to plan builds.

Fun little Metroidvania, but kind of short. Finished it in about 8 hours. Story is nice with multiple endings. Movement is very similar to Castlevania games, but it was so similar I found myself instinctively trying to use things like slide and jumpkick and this game doesn't have those. Really enjoyed this game. I wish there was more.

Fun little match-three game. Sliding the entire row to make a match is a little more awkward than swapping tiles like you see in many other match-three games. If you don't grab the row at the right spot, it can be easy to run out of room to slide it over and make the match you need, forcing the row to snap back into place and making you try again. Once you get used to it, it's not too bad. The item system is also a little clunky -- if you aren't right up next to the monster when you use an attacking item, you run the risk of wasting it entirely. Aside from a few QoL problems, the game is fun and easy to sink a couple hours into. 7/10.
