I'm going to make this as easy as possible to understand.

If you took Homeworld in every aspect of it's game, added an overly simple, useless, and quite boring 4x element to it and stripped down the RTS portion into it's barest forms, you'll get Dust Fleet as a result. I hate the fact that I hate this game because I really wanted to like it going in.

In short, It's not worth your time if you've already played Homeworld; because you've already played the improved version of this game.

Update: The servers are now almost 100% functional at all times and so far, over the last couple nights, I have instantly been able to get into the game and match-make my way into spreading freedom and liberty across the stars. So what are you waiting for? Managed Democracy is in jeopardy and it's enemies wait for no one!

Originally, I thought this game was going to flop. Part of the magic of the original Helldivers was the twin stick top down shooter format that forced players to think before they shoot because team kills were absolutely real and with ammo being such a high value commodity; every shot counts. I'm glad I was wrong. Helldivers 2 is a masterpiece in the genre of 3rd person action shooters; and the best part is: you STILL have to think before you shoot.

However, I'm still giving this a vote down because server capacity issues have definitely become so much of a problem, that you have to plan out waiting times to actually get past the loading screen. For a game pretty much owned by Sony, I expected much more server support and game access than what we're currently given. If the Idea was to get people to buy the game, play two hours to run out the clock on refunds and then have to wait in line just to play again, congratulations, you've succeeded, although I don't really understand the logic behind the grift, because the game is really that good.

Personally, I would hold off purchasing this until they get their server issues settled. Once that's completed, for a $40 price tag, you're getting much more for your money than you know.

I fell in love with this game from the start. I have recently discovered that I had an interest in Home Remodeling games and this scratched the itch entirely.

This is a living document so I'm also going to add to this over time:

The Pros:
*The game is pretty challenging from a home design perspective
*It's one of those games where you can get sucked in for hours without realizing it
*The property management portion of the game is fun, especially when it comes down to negotiating rent and renovating properties
*The game does a really good job simulating the whole landlording experience, from dealing with problematic tenants to outright evicting and breaking a lease.
*The graphics and music fit the game perfectly

What needs to be improved:

There's quite a few of these -

1. An Undo Feature: When placing tiles or paint on a renovation, If I mess up, I want to be able to undo my mistake without having to start fresh or spending more cash trying to fix my mistake. As the game goes on, the projects get more challenging budget-wise. I don't want to have to redo an entire remodeling project because of an accident
(Update 5/3/2021) - Not sure if it was fixed or I just didn't notice it but, It now seems like the game will refund or charge you the difference when you put down a different floor or a new paint.
2. Remove the Background Check and Tenant History from the Cell Phone panel: My biggest pet peeve in this game is trying to scope out potential tenants. Having to go between watching potential tenants in a building and the BRC and TH info in the cellphone panel is a hassle and can easily be fixed by putting that information in the panel where the actual tenant info is when you click on them.
3. Decor Completion Info Should Be Easily Accessible : I shouldn't have to go to different menus to figure out the percentage of completion I have for room. That should be visible at all the times during renovations.
4. Decor Suggestions Info Should Also Be Easily Accessible Again: I shouldn't have to go from one screen to another to get suggestions on what I need to make my room more complete.
(Update 5/3/2021) There's actually a way to have the Decor tab open while remodeling. I'm not sure if I didn't notice it from the get go, but it definitely makes things a lot easier.
5. The Camera Features Really Need Some Tweaking: I can't tell you how many times I've tried moving the camera in a certain direction only to have the camera punted clear across the map.
6. The Game is Verrrrrrry Grindy: I'd like to see a faster progression system in this game. As fun as it is to remodel and renovate space after space, it can get a tad bit boring after a while.
7. (New 5/3/2021) The highlights around decor, paint, and flooring don't make sense to me when it comes to the overall remodeling review standpoint. Like certain plants being for florists, or certain items being Odd's and Ends. I may have just overlooked it but, there's really no indication in what scenarios we should use these items and I would really like to see some direction on how to use them.

Other than that, this game is in an excellent state for an early access title and I can't wait to see how things develop over time.

Edit 4/23/2021 -

1. I see there are a lot of jobs for building businesses in the game. I want to see some sort of a feature that distinguishes between a Place of Business and a home residence when remodeling a specific space. I'd also like to see some business specific assets and items I could put into those places to make them feel more like a place of business IE: Cash Registers, counters, bar tops; etc.

2. I also want to see more building types. I tire from remodeling the same places over and over. I think I've remodeled the same Tree House 6 or 7 times now. New architecture buildings and a wider variety of assets and items would also be a plus.

I bought this game for 75 Cents and I am truly satisfied with the what I got. First, I would like to warn you, this game is not a Game Dev Tycoon or Mad Game Tycoon replacement, nor does it contain any of the complexity you will find in those titles. It is a worker management sim with a Game Dev theme pasted on top of it. Also, don't go into this thinking you're getting a game that will give you 100's of hours of satisfaction. I beat this one in 4.6 hours and have no desire to play it again after that. So is this game worth the 75 cents I paid for it? Yes, even though the game was way too short, it was still fun.

I would have liked to see a bit more complexity, like what you would find in other titles of the genre. I would have liked to have more control over the development process. More space to place objects and more objects in general would have been nice as well. So to close, if you're getting it absolutely dirt cheap, it's worth your money.

If the movie "Friday" was remade into a video game, this would be it. I'm not huge about multiplayer but the story mode is well worth whatever price you pay for it. The soundtrack is phenomonal and the voice acting is stellar. The physics work great and the graphics are really good . When you purchase this game, you're not just getting a game, your getting a fully playable movie that will leave you with some of the best video game moments of all time.

After Playing the game for about 85 Minutes, I can't reccomend it. It's a poor port and not optimized for Keyboard and Mouse play by any means. For a game that retails $60, the graphics are rough, the gameplay is repetitive, the dialogue isn't very interesting, and I found myself running through levels just to get them finished without any intention of killing everything on my screen because it got boring waaaaaaaay too fast. The game is shallow on just about all fronts. The traditional Koei - Tecmo formula has been used and more than abused for way too long. There's nothing unique about this game and is probably worth no more than $15 at the most. You're truly better off buying any of the previous Dynasty Warriors games than you would be with this title because the Dyanasty Warriors franchise has way more to offer. This game is 4 steps down from any of those.

So previously, I wrote a very lengthy review about how I could not recommend this game. I have since changed my mind because the game has evolved so much over time that it is a completely different experience and one that is worth exploring.

It's pretty good as an alpha. Graphics are choppy and unoptimized (to be expected in it's current state). Gameplay is fast, furious, and gritty in the spirit of StarSiege: Tribes, Unreal Tournament and Gears of War. But like it's spiritual predecessor: Warhammer 40K Space Marine, the movement feels like you're playing a paper cut-out model than a 1 ton space marine in armor. I know that sounds funny but, if you remember playing any of the original Gears of War games, not only was it gritty but, movement and physics made you actually feel like your character had some physical weight to it. I don't know how they would go about fixing something like that but it definitely needs some polish and optimization. But overall, I am most certain this game has potential to blossom into something gorgeous and real; something worthy of the Warhammer 40k IP.

I'll make this quick:

Pros:
Weapon balancing is much better with the steam release
Player/Skill Matching has had major improvements
Graphics are decent
Lot's of coordination and strategy involved
Gameplay is great
Weapon and mech customization options are 2nd to none.
Community Warfare is really fun

Cons:

High price for content.
Premium time is almost a must
Occasional crashes here and there
Needs more gameplay modes
Cosmetic Items and customizations are really expensive.

The game lacks a lot of depth and flexibility that previous titles (Democracy or Tropico series) in the same genre have. The graphics and game play are choppy and the animation is worse than the Lord of the Rings animated cartoon from the 70's. Take my advice, The Democracy series gets you the same mechanics with a hell of a lot more options and fluidity; without the choppy gameplay and god aweful color schemes.

This game is a Pass.
