The game is honestly easy if you actually take the time to learn how to play it correctly instead of just mashing the attack button.

Is training mode necessary to learn how to play the game? No, but it's super helpful in learning how to actually explore and use your defensive options. This is one of the few fighting games where training is actually useful for becoming a better fighter without having to crunch any frame data.

I brushed through the entirety of Goku's story with no issues and a couple of episodes on the other characters with no problem.

The visuals are amazing and it is a true sequel to the other Sparking!(Budokai Tenkaichi EU/NA) games in the series.

But there are some gripes, which makes me not want to recommend the game.

We all know, online, whether that's ranked or casual, will always be filled with sweats or toxic leavers, and by picking to play a character that's not one of the top tier ones, that have increased health or that can go into Sparking! mode within an instant, you're giving yourself a handicap. That is not to say how lore-accurate the characters have been balanced. Online play seems fine, at least for me, there were no real lag/connectivity issues, but being to basically be forced to pick Gogeta SS4 or MUI Goku or something similarly powered when facing an equally skilled player, is kinda tedious and unfun. But hey, if that's the meta, than that's how you gotta roll.

The other issue I have is that every fight, is basically an endurance struggle for vanishing counters until one of the fighters has run out of steam or misses the timing of an input to end up getting backshotted to hell, which seem to be impossible to counter.

The story is as familiar as always, but the presentation or lack there off is a pity. They could've done something great with it, instead we got a Microsoft power point and slide show out of it.

The menu is slow and laggy, unlike the previous entries, where the menu was fast and snappy.

It's missing a couple of characters which would've been great to fill out the roster, but perhaps those will get added in a future update or DLC(probably DLC, because money), and having a timer to pick from a roster that has X Gokus and X Vegetas on it, is extremely tedious. The roster could've been designed much better. I would've rather seen 1 Goku and when highlighting the character a sub menu appears to choose his form/era from.

As I mentioned earlier, playing through story battles is rather quite easy, except it's so easy that I often get veered off to an alternative path, because I defeat the opponent before the timer runs out and so I have to replay a battle quite often, to trigger a certain event or to actually just hold it out until the timer runs out in order to progress the story normally. This is really a gripe, because I've been stuck doing a couple of fights over and over again, until the AI finally does the thing that triggers the special event or the timer actually runs out and I can progress the story like normally.

At this point, would I recommend the game? No. Not really. As fun as it is, it is severely lacking a bunch of stuff and feels like an early access game instead of a fully fleshed out title.

Perhaps that will change in the future, but I currently have my regrets having purchased the most expensive option.

If you love Castlevania, please pick up this short but sweet game!

The game is simply beautiful. Coated in a 16-BIT oldschool SNES pixel artstyle. The gameplay is amazing and the story is simple, not very original and sometimes quirky but still enjoyable. Alas that it is such a short game, but definitely worth the time and money.

The level/map design is fairly good for what it is and definitely shows how interconnected everything is. The concept of being able to travel through time and affect things in different timelines is intriguing but alas don't seem to have a whole lot of impact on the game. But it is still a very cool concept!

I am honestly hoping a sequel would be coming in the near future, featuring a new protagonist and more solid story, more weapons and equipments and more familiars to play with.

Edit:

Oculus Touch Controller Support has now been added and honestly, it works absolutely fine.

However some desires are left to change the control scheme, but I am aware this will be changed in future updates.

The game is in its very early stages, but the Developer seems very promising and hardworking, making sure to address the issues players have with the game.

Would I recommend it right now? Sure, go ahead and try it, this will also help the Developer out.

Thumbs up from me.
