9/6/21 UPDATE- Tripwire Interactive has taken action against their now former President and CEO by removing him for the company. As such, I have updated the review to reflect this.

Thank you Tripwire for taking a stand for a women to have agency over her body.

While I have enjoyed Killing Floor in the past, more so 1 than 2, I cannot recommend this game in good faith.

The CEO of Tripwire recently came out in support of a deeply misogynistic and harmful law that nearly outright eliminates the right for women to choose what happens to their body. As a Texan, I am disgusted by this law, and find it abhorrent that anyone would support it. If you believe that this law is horrifying, please make an informed decision about your money.

I can not willingly support a company led by a man who is openly proud and grateful that millions of women in my state cannot control their own medical decisions, no matter the background.

I hope that any developer at TripWire is able to find a better job, if they wish, or that the company is able to make a leadership change as soon as possible.

The only game where you can play the FUTURE'S FUTURE, to avoid the FUTURE'S FUTURE'S FUTURE, TODAY.

After a lot of pondering I decided to finally pick up A Plague Tale: Innocence . The story looked intriguing, the game-play looked different, and overall seemed entertaining.

I am happy to report that this game turned out to be so much more than what I was expecting.

The story follows Amicia de Rune and her brother Hugo, who are forced to survive on their own after the Inquisition attacks their home. To make matters worse, a terrible plague called "The Bite" has crippled the country-side and found its way through the city. Together, Amicia and Hugo learn to rely on each other and some friends along the way to discover what really is going on.

The story was captivating, carried strongly by the voice actors of Amicia and Hugo. By grounding the fantastical events of the plague with the tale of a sibling bond, the story feels all the more impactful. Much in the vein of The Last of Us , the music really helps set the tone, often changing with events that happen or battle that occur. The horrible world Amicia and Hugo live in feels alive, ironic considering the death that surrounds them.

The game plays very well, with players taking on the role of Amicia, who utilizes her sling to protect her and her brother. Over time, with materials she finds and allies who join their journey, she is able to upgrade her toy into a weapon for protection, and learns to utilize various ammo types. She is also able to command Hugo and others to help solve puzzles, find materials, or take out enemies. Every time a new mechanic is introduced, the developers provide an excellent "tutorial" enemy or puzzle to help players understand how to best use the ammo or mechanic.

Speaking of puzzles, the game does a great job at incorporating her sling and friends into figuring them out, while also keeping them out of danger. Every enemy encounter, whether its with the Inquisition or the Rats that have taken over feels like a puzzle to solve, often in different and various ways according to play style. The puzzles are not too challenging, though one did not seem as straightforward as it actually was. Enemy encounters can be a bit difficult, but upgrading is key to getting an upperhand. This game also rewards players for exploring, so take time to look into every nook and pathway!

Overall, this game was an incredibly well made adventure that had me care for the characters and wanting to keep playing to discover what happened next. I cannot wait to see what this studio does next and hope to experience more of this world!

9/10!

Dead by Daylight has changed a lot since it's first launch, but thankfully, the developers have found their stride. It is not perfect, nor will the perfect balance ever really be found. But like many multiplayer games, Dead by Daylight has a flow that makes it fun after hundreds of hours.

There is still room for improvement, like rewards and ranking, and some killers do still need reworks. But for me at least, I can have fun as a survivor, running around solo trying to help my team to escape, or I can pick up a few killer rounds and enjoy the heck out of terrorizing survivors. This game is fun and is definitely worth the price now. 8/10!!
