A few years after release, this is actually in a pretty good state after new maps, new voice lines and a better semblance of a cohesive story, class tree/weapon overhauls, performance improvements, and making the endgame gearing (always a terrible system in -Tide games) make at least some kind of sense.

The monetization is a kind of cringe but I've seen worse models and it's all cosmetic barring the Arbites class thus far. It's worth picking up on sale if you like the WH40K universe and co-op horde shooters, especially if the content pace is picking up a bit.

Early Access Review
This game is insanely amusing and I never play things in this genre. It's more feature-complete than full-priced studio games in its first early access showing. The loop of getting your manufacturing and sales off the ground is very fun and you don't have to optimize fast to do well, leaving you with plenty of space to mess around and experiment which I think sets it apart from a lot of other titles. It is also riddled with childish/♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ humor which I think is a plus. It even has functional co-op this early, which is impressive for something like this.

10/10 fully recommend.

Early Access Review
DON'T SHOOT, I'M WITH THE SCIENCE TEAM!

Edit:
Updating for 1.0 release, this is an excellent game and my favorite survival game ever. The team who made it cares a lot of about the quality of their product and it shows. As someone who loves Half-Life, SCP, and science fiction content, this game is a great mix of interesting concepts, ambient horror, and humor.

All of the survival mechanics fit the theme well, with mini-games making what would be potentially boring aspects more engaging or funny. The whole tech and story progression also really makes the game feel like an adventure instead of a resource grind that you just eventually get bored of which is what sets it apart (maybe like Subnautica).

The game is a bit slower/harder if you play solo and you will ramp up over time, but multiplayer is a great experience that functions well and now has few bugs or issues remaining.

Warhammer has had some ups and downs video game-wise, but this is a stand out example. The game looks amazing, perfectly captures the aesthetic and lore in many ways, and the combat feels great. Both the story and operations co-op is a lot of fun with a 3 man squad being easy to fill and enhancing the experience instead of crowding it. Absolute recommend if you're a long time WH or new to it.

Probably one of the best beat-em-ups on Steam and a very fun game. The story is nonsense and mostly irrelevant, but what does matter is the game controls well, has a great skill curve, and it's just satisfying to destroy entire rooms of people with better choreography than many action movies. It feels like a mix of Hotline Miami but with something like Rise to Honor or Sleeping Dog's melee combat from a top-downish view. The sound track is also probably on-par with HM too, one of best I've heard in a while that actually matches the pace and energy of the game.

This game captures the Stalker/Metro/Roadside Picnic vibe well, but with its own distinct gameplay loop. The shooting/stealth is functional with some light gathering/inventory management/basebuilding added in. The main draw is the twisting story which dabbles into both some interesting science fiction and intrigue. The companions and their stories also add quite a bit to the plot, with your decisions affecting their attitude and whether or not they stay around.

I definitely recommend this, but set the language to Russian with subtitles because the English voice acting is extremely distracting. It can also get a bit crashy when loading a mission or into VR but the autosave is so frequent I've never lost more than 30 seconds of time.

After a long early access cycle, a mixed 1.0 release and then a lot of clean up and now the Home Invasion dlc, Ready or Not stands at a pretty decent spot. The AI isn't perfect but it usually works with the occasional friendly AI doing something stupid or the suspect AI freaking out. Most of the weapons handle well after a refactor and I would say the entire roster is pretty usable. The performance is definitely better depending on how strong your rig is and the UE5 engine changeover seems like a minor performance hit in exchange for graphical fidelity. However, I expect after some optimization this won't be an issue even for weaker rigs. As a long time player of SWAT 3 GOTY/SWAT 4, this is probably the closest Ready or Not has been to that experience and in some ways surpasses it.

A fun mini-XCOM game where you're basically a SWAT team managing a city instead of a global defense force or resistance network. As someone who is decent at XCOM games, I found this enjoyable as some of the mechanics/management are either simpler or scaled down, so it doesn't drag on forever like the main entries sometimes do.

Other things about the game are up to your preference. The squadmates are fixed (so lower customization/team personalization), but many of their unique abilities are really good. The writing for dialogue can be cringe, but the radio adverts were actually pretty funny. Some early Mass Effect vibes in the better lines.

Overall, if you mainline Long War, you probably don't want this. If you like XCOM but not the longer commitment of 1 or 2, this game is for you.

Fun little indie game that really nails the atmosphere of being isolated in the arctic against the elements. Short but works in its favor as you are engaged the whole time and the mechanics don't wear out their welcome. Very much recommend on sale.

An excellent sequel to Helldivers 1 and a very fun co-op shooter, simple as.

I'M DOING MY PART.

EDIT: Now that it's the end of 2024, the game had a lot of ups and downs with bugs and balance problems but the developers finally listened to community, leaving the game in a currently good/fun state with a few bugs but a balanced set of usable weapons and stratagems.
