Tonally stagnant. Visually abysmal.

David Cage isn't Gaspar Noe. He doesn't have the talent to bring to life a compelling horror/thriller mystery game because it goes from the characters living a blissfully perfect life to 100% extreme darkness where it rains every second of every day to beat the player into a mindset of perpetual depression. The game has barely any middle ground of realism (i.e. having a negative event take place on a nice day) and *SPOILERS* you cannot purposefully kill-off specific characters because only certain ones are integral to the ending; nullifying the point of a game where each character you play as has moments where they fight for their lives and may die permanently.

If you study this game closely enough, you'll see that the developers have a very loose grasp on American culture, meaning their only experience of it comes from 2010 Google image searches. The French VA's don't do convincing American accents. Also in the mall scene, not a single person is overweight. Everyone looks like a fit European despite this game taking place in America.

I'm not saying you won't enjoy this game, but I didn't based on principles of reality that this game deliberately ignores due to the lack of respect they have for the player, thinking they are simpletons that can't read into the context of a situation without being bombarded with overly-dramatized motifs of sadness. The gameplay itself was the saving grace, but unfortunately it was inundated by passive-aggressive emo visual shock value.

I made it 75% through before an unfixable glitch where I couldn't open a door (both with a mouse and controller) prevented me from finishing the game.

This is a terrible, terrible game and I feel sorry for the developers' mothers.

If you want to shoot someone in multiplayer 5 times in the face and still not kill them, this is the game for you.
