Town of Salem 2 is just... okay. The mixed reviews aren't because the game's ♥♥♥♥- it's just a really hard genre. "it's an entry-level mafia-like, you only need to read/watch for 10 hours!!!" seems like an insult, because it kinda is, and i'm somewhat lying- we'll get to that later. But it's actually the only mafia like game that A: Gets Players 24/7 B: The players at least have basic soc deduct skills- basic's the key word and C: Actually somewhat competent role / mode design.

Forum Mafia on a site like Mafiascum shall always beat its ass in quality, but that's a week per game day. maybe i want *5* *minute* game days. That's what a mafia-like game's for, really. The genre's niche one for a reason. Because not everyone has autism like the average soc deduct player. Not everyone is literate. Not everyone lacks a life. But i check all three boxes, girl, and you will probably have to at least check one box.

Let's get it out the way- Every social deduction game is *hard to learn, even harder to master* - You can't hop in instantly and go "girl i'm green plz no why me!!!" because that's the equivalent of playing a FPS not knowing the reload key. No ♥♥♥♥ that in an fps game you get called a f** over the xbox 360 live by a toxic teen boy no matter if you are male, female, straight, gay cis or trans. it's also what the average cod game attracts- toxic teen boys that can't be more of a turn off to any woman that's sadly into men. so what does ToS 2 attract? And what do you need to learn?

Town of salem 2 actually has guides. watch them, read them. They are 100x better than any other entry mafia-like. Maybe watch a pipetron game as town once and one coven game. - Back in the day this is how i learnt the 1st game even back 5+ years ago! Then, just... play! The slang that like half the negative reviews cry over are NEARLY ALL explained by guides / playing the game! for the rarer complex ones the Mafiascummers have a massive wiki. Like, sociology classes have less depth. it's also what makes forum mafia 10x harder. - By the way, all you need to know to get past d2- Claim a town sub align. if town, hover over the role icon. if evil, call either TK, TP, TS /or/ any investigator role. Remember to write an action log- known as a "will"- Action logs are generally "Role - N1: X [Y] N2 : X [Y]" - Ask other players especially evil teammates as a team evil!

The problems start with players... And they're the best out of any mafia-like. i'd say players can have heavy "E3 Rifleman" syndrome. AKA like a Rifleman in CM13 / RMC14 seeing the 70 hours E3 rank, ToS 2 players get an undeserved ego after their 100, 250, 500 wins mark pretty often. Like playing Rifleman, Playing ToS 2 is the *basic* experience of a generally hard thing. Basic may not mean easy, but it means it's not exactly complex once learnt. There's a difference between playing Exec officer and Rifleman, and there's a difference between forum mafia and a mafia-like. Many concepts are never there in the more basic experience yet certain people act like they know alllll. Any complex gameplay that's past the general meta shall get you yelled at by these types. They aren't everyone but there's a reason you have to play the game for simple fun. Let your brain turn off in some areas as a better than average player.

As one ragebait video i watched said - "Multiplayer games are ♥♥♥♥ for both bad and good players, you have to be average"

There are also mods. download Salem Mod Launcher. Trust me it makes the game better and once you learn if you play at 6pm utc time the Better Town of Salem 2 mod runs a few lobbies- Better content, better players, better list design. The problem is the non 24/7 part. i am sadly, Australian. i'll suck tuba off when casual runs at non 4 am times, please tuba!!!

in conclusion, best entry level mafia-like, but that's a low, very low bar. i recommend the genre only for those that hit the autism checkbox, otherwise don't play it. 6.75/10, "Better than wolvesville!"
