For a quicker stovetop method, simply place the bacon strips in a cold skillet, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Heat over medium and cook, flipping occasionally, for 8–10 minutes until the bacon is golden and crispy. When done, transfer the bacon to a plate lined with paper towels to drain. Whether using the oven or stovetop, don't forget to save the rendered bacon fat for future cooking—it adds great flavor to other dishes!
Ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 packet (or 2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup warm water (around 110°F/45°C)
1 tablespoon olive oil or melted butter (optional)
Instructions:
Activate the yeast:
In a small bowl, mix the warm water with sugar and yeast. Stir it lightly and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, until it becomes frothy. If the mixture doesn't bubble up, your yeast might be expired.
Mix dry ingredients:
In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt.
Combine wet and dry ingredients:
Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil (if using). Stir until the dough starts to come together.
Knead the dough:
Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead it for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. You may need to add a bit more flour if it’s too sticky.
