I don't go by a consistent name on Steam, so feel free to call me by whatever my current name is.
If you're adding me for any reason, leave a comment on my profile beforehand or I will decline it. I'll also decline if your profile or friends list is private. Basically all of my chats are through Steam, so this is your best medium to reach me. Do not randomly approach me for "favors" or other requests, especially ones that take place outside of Steam. If you greet me with a vague "hey" and proceed to segway into asking me to go to some website to engage in something I don't care about, you're getting messed with and eventually removed. I will see through any attempts to talk about my interests and how the "favor" benefits me. I've read the book.

I don't usually interact with people who friend me, so don't go in with the expectation of frequent conversations or regularly playing together. It's mostly for connecting with whoever I have good interactions with.

Games
Do not randomly gift me games on Steam, especially if they're singleplayer. Tell me what the name of the game is and I will pick it up if it interest me. I might make exceptions if you ask in advance, and if I do, try to seek out a code or a sale to save some money. Also make sure it's a code for the game and not a Steam account. I've seen some money go bye-bye.

Steam Gripes
The "community" on Steam is abysmal and I do my best to stay as detached as possible, with the exception of the very rare folks who can be good company.
Game reviews are littered with mindless one-liners, memes, outrage-bait, and other things besides reviews farming for updoots Steam Awards. Steam would benefit from a review system similar to Epic Games' where you're surveyed and shown the game's qualities without needing to wade through 20+ reviews that say a whole lot of nothing, and instead make whatever stupid flavor text people have for the game secondary to the actual review and feedback on the game. "Curators" are basically just reviews but even less substance because almost all of them are meme/gimmick reviews, and the lack of any sort of screening or barrier of entry or needing to own what you review means you get a bunch of dumb kids using it as a soapbox to kvetch about things that don't matter (like politics) or have any meaningful relevance.
With the Steam store, it's too easy for any loser - regardless of credentials or reputation - to upload whatever they want onto the store regardless of quality and charge whatever they want for it. Unfortunately with certain games, kids (and I guess also "adults" with kid brains) will buy it as a punchline for self-deprecating humor and usually also display it on their profiles in an attempt to convince onlookers they're bold, shameless and not afraid of anything. "Damn, this guy has anime minecraft nazi hentai in his library, I won't be able to crack him" said nobody ever. I've yet to see someone pull it off.
Certain features across Steam seem half-baked and don't work consistently, including features on the mobile apps as well. A lot of things I end up hearing "Steam finally fixed" are things that seem so basic that they shouldn't be left broken for as long as they are. They'll sooner fix micro-bugs that affect maybe 1 per every 100,000 steam members rather than fix commonly-used features. I'm not saying don't fix the small stuff, but I don't know why they can't fix some of the more prevalent issues while they're at it. Maybe fix up the backend so these issues are less likely to show up in the first place.
