Some things haven't changed...

I still forgot about dinner.

Look, the game has issues but it's still an enjoyable alternative to dealing with the monotonous list of tasks and responsibilities that come with being an adult.

There are some interesting changes to the game. Be informed before you buy so you know what you're getting into. Watch some videos regarding how the leaders and civilizations work, how the ages transition, and the goals for each age. Check out the "New Settlers Hub". These are some big changes compared to previous versions of Civilization. Make up your own mind instead of letting others making it up for you.

At it's core, this game has a solid foundation. ;)

I've really enjoyed this game so far. The only thing that stopped me from playing until the sun came up was the CTDs. I've encountered 3 of them in the 15 hours I've played. Hopefully those get fixed soon. There are also some production chains that need to be tweaked (wheat to flour to bread ratios seem off).

I never played the pre 1.0 version of this game so I don't know what it was like before. I know there are some who don't like the changes that were made for the 1.0 version. There are complaints about optimization, which I can agree with. I've read that how trees are rendered and their shadows are probably a huge factor (there's a lot of trees!). I'm not an expert, just a gamer who likes pretty scenery.

There are some things that aren't explained well in the game. For example, I've read that some people misintepreted the "remove resources" command to mean "harvest resources" and were confused why the resources disappeared forever (d'oh!). For myself, I don't quite understand the difference between having patrollers vs. guards as they feel redundant. There are a few other minor things that I'm still unsure about.

This game... this beautiful game of violence and mayhem is magnificent. It is so satisfying to play and those killing blow animations never get old.

As I played more of the game, was exposed to the different systems and how things worked in the game, the more I became enamored with it. From what I've experienced so far and discussions I've read, there is a good deal of flexibility in building out your group of killers. You can play with a small group or a large group, mix it up with humans and animals, and include prisoners to do the manual labor or sell them off for money. There is so much to love about this game, so many little different features that just work in making this a magnificent experience. Classes, traits, professions, expanding your camp, companion interactions, crafting, gear choices and improvements,

The combat is enjoyable. I find it refreshing not dealing with the traditional zone of control stopping movement (or always triggering opportunity attacks) and being able to make use of your full movement. Your character may get engaged, which locks them in combat with an enemy unit, but there's also ways to disengage. I feel like I get to focus more on skills and how I'm spending valor points and more importantly, having fun.

If you're new to the game, I do recommend watching a couple beginner guide / tip videos as there were a few things that weren't obvious to me. One of top QoL tips was how to run and being to hold the mouse button to "pull" your troop in the direction you want them to go. Combined with stacking bonuses to run, this removed one of the top complaints I had with the game, which was how slow the group moved across the world map.

I wish I could write a proper review regaling you, the reader, of how great this game is and that it is absolutely deserving of a spot in your library. However I'm not a writer, I'm just a bloodthirsty rabbit with little time or patience for composing beautiful literary works. So trust me when I say this game is truly both great and deserving... or keep looking over your shoulder while you're walking the dark streets alone at night.

This is one of those dangerous games where it sucked me in and made me completely oblivious to the passage of time outside of the game. I started playing it last night and next thing I know it's 3am.

I did take a few breaks... I had to feed the dog (later than usual), take her outside, and eat my own dinner. However while eating dinner, I was watching YouTube videos for tips and was eager to jump right back in armed with greater knowledge of the game and it's significant depth. To unsuspecting new players it may seem simple as the game and it's tutorial eases you into taking command of your ship, but holy cow after watching some of the tips videos my mind is blown with the possibilities. The devs behind this game are brilliant.

The interface is masterclass level. Screenshots aren't going to showcase how at how well thought out the interface is. It's only after you spend time with the game and then watch experienced players using it that you can appreciate all of the features and options built into it.

Playing as a dragon is a bit OP, but I like... no, I love it. It's so much fun!

This is a fantastic game because it lets me focus on my favorite X in 4X, which is eXterminate!

The gameplay is fun. The factions are an interesting mix. The end game is nuts. The underlying storyline is great. I want more.

I love the art work in the quest screens. It's so well done.

Rogue Operative is the best. ;)

It's great and deserves all the awards.

A decent FMV with some unexpected moments. As someone who enjoys those bad movies that are so bad that they are good, I did enjoy this too. A fun take on society and influencers as well.

This was fantastic!

Having not played a FMV game before, I went into this with low expectations. I thought it would be janky and not very good. I was completely wrong! The video quality was great on the Steam Deck. I was very impressed with how the videos for different choices were for the most part seamless. The people planning, coordinating, directing, acting, working the camera, and editing had to be on top of their game to make this work so well. Even the sound and music transitions were good. I'm very impressed and will certainly try more FMVs in the future.
