To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Fortnight. The games mechanics are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the strats will go over a typical gamers head. There's also Epic's nihilistic design philosophy, which is deftly woven into their character designs- their monitisation draws heavily from EA, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of this game, to realise that its not just an artistic masterpiece- it also say something deep about industry. As a consequence people who dislike Fortnight truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the original character designs in the Avengers expansion which itself is a cryptic reference to MCU in which Fortnight is it's own universe. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Epic's genius wit unfolds itself on their monitor
