09/15/2023 - Destiny 2 is officially dead...

...at least for me. Please don't get me wrong I really love this game, my 6k+ hours in Steam won't let me lie. DLCs content is good (Witch Queen - ♥), raids and dungeons are awesome (even in contest mode), the build crafting is simple enough to finish most of hardcore activity solo, PVP is fun (even with some broken and imbalanced meta things which Bungie tries to shift each ~half a year), feeling from the gun shooting - oh my lord - one of the best in my game experience. Moreover, when I am not able to play the game, I watch it on Twitch. Sometimes I find myself thinking that it was created for Twitch, the content is very entertaining.

But return back to the main question why am I leaving?! (who even cares actually, but this is my review ;)) In a nutshell I am tired. I just burned out. There are too many bugs, too many unfair and unbalanced things which are turning all fun in the game into a d0gsh1t. The latest glitch just put the last nail in the coffin of the game. The game has been broken completely. The issue allows the players to use combination of perks on the crafted guns which is not supposed to exist in the sandbox. What we got?! Broken PVE, where the raid bossed just a joke. Broken PVP, one-shot kill weapons, laser tag etc. Pretty fun, isn't it?! Some streamers were able to get more than 150 frags in a row! I can understand, for them and for the viewers it's just fun content but try (just for a second) to imagine what other players (who do not watch YouTube or Twitch and do not even understand what is going on) feel. It's awful. And how Bungie decided to deal with it?! They allowed players to use the broken weapons until they were working on a fix. Wait, whaaat? why?! seriously?! are you kidding, Bungie?! The game is not under your control anymore. Just turn off the servers and fix the issue to save your reputation as a game studio which Sony bought for $3.6 billion. Even if it takes a few days or weeks, even if it costs some money for you (could be a good lesson) considering that you are selling the announced DLC for $100. But no, so what we have now:

  • Devalued in-game trophies, emblems, medals - flawless solo dungeon, flawless duo raid - not a challenge anymore. Bungie said there is no rollback in their plans. Well, sad, but again nobody would have blamed the developers if they turned off the servers as soon as the issue was identified. I don't see much sense to complete the rare achievements anymore.
  • Divided community, one group thinks this was really fun and wants more, others just don't want to eat the sh1t. I am tired of reading this bullsh1t on Twitter.
  • Cringe content on Twitch. No skill required in the game. It's just a random thing, will you kill or be killed.
  • The developers are able to patch the glitch (lol, actually not, the game is still broken)
  • The servers are unstable after the patch; the players are just kicked back to the login screen each ~15 minutes. I don't think I will wait till the next patch. This "game" is not ready for production.
  • Horrible feelings, terrible weekend. I feel sorry for the developers, they have had a really infernal days too, but not all decisions depend on them. I am pretty sure nobody who actively plays Destiny 2 will forget this weekend.

I refunded Final Shape DLC today. Destiny 2 is a great game in their niche but for some reason forgotten by the game studio. I just can't recommend the game in its current state even to my enemies. Sorry, Bungie, goodbye.
