Deus Ex is the ultimate horror game, For while the game lacks jump-scares and other such horror-related stuff, the scariest part is that the most evil themes and predictions discussed in the story based off of Y2K-era conspiracy theories ended up being revealed as true after 20 years of terror attacks, declassification and other political circuses.. According to the writers, this was done by complete and total accident, and they even offloaded hardware limitations onto the lore(namely, the old World Trade Center being absent).
Play at your own risk.

This game hates you. It despises you and it takes every opportunity it can to make you miserable. You miss a bolt on the engine mounts? Stranded on the highway. You wire the electronics wrong? Car goes up in flames. You forget to take a second to pee before you leave the house? You die on the way to town of an exploded bladder.
Many questions will enter your mind while playing this game, among them being "Why am I playing this?", "Which tool am I supposed to use on this bolt?", "Why is my car spewing white smoke?", "WHERE THE CHRIST IS MY FLASHLIGHT ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥?".
There is no end game, there's no ultimate goals other than the ones you set for yourself. The only way to finish the game is to lose. This is the video game equivalent to the endless pain and suffering of Hell. I can tell you with absolute certainty that you are not a bad enough dude to play this. Take that as a challenge if you dare.
9.5/10, it's pretty okay.

This game has ruined my life.

I bought it on release day for the PS3, collector's edition too! As of right now, the Lucky 38 chip that came with it is one of my most prized possessions, kind of like Two-Face's coin, but much heavier and I stare at it instead of flipping it. I digress. Anyways, as most ex-console owners know, Betheseda games and the PS3 go HORRIBLY together, constant crashing, had to keep making new playthroughs, everything. I bought dead money, then I got stuck in the Lucky 38 suite, lucky me. After that, bought it for my Xbox 360, 40 dollars down the drain, bought all the story DLCs, there went a good 60. For about a year, I was building up a level 50 "perfect" character, little and behold, the game crashed and I lost my data and gave up on the game entirely.

The year after that, shopping at Wal Mart, found the ultimate edition for 20 bucks, why the hell not? Popped it into my old piece of ♥♥♥♥ HP, couldn't run it at the settings I desired, choppy as hell, and then the computer itself died completely. After spending 600 bucks building a new computer, I finally got it running at a smooth 60 frames per second, no stuttering, or anything. After that, I installed 100 mods and now I pray that it loads the area I was in. I spent well over 1000 dollars trying to play this one game, only for it to run horribly because my modding skills are crap. 11/10, best game ever.
