I have been enjoying this game since I have gotten my hands on it, and while I definitely have more to say as to why, I need some time to collect my thoughts.

But until then, this is a damn good game.

This game has been a blast and outside of some hiccups on my own ends (and the server capacity woes), I had not had any personal issues with this game.

Then came Sony. Outside of the store pages info box showing a 3rd party account being required and the initial day 1 game launch procedure, it was not overtly stated that account linking was a hard requirement leading to many getting the game under a false impression.

Now, Sony wants to completely enforce account linking, knowing that it will not only effectively prevent a large amount of the player-base from playing due to local restrictions, but also knowing their own track record with maintaining security of personal information.

As it stands, i cannot and will not put a positive steam review for the game as it cannot be done in good faith.

Update: Sony has since stepped back on their requirement, so I will switch my review to a positive rating for as long as sony does not pull another stunt like this. As for what I had as my review, I will leave it for posterity.

It's been a long time, first played the game on mobile when it released for global back in August 2016, and was able to play on the pc more recently. While I am sad to see the game go, I cannot say that i was surprised by the announcement of the impending closure early this year. With all the projects that Square currently has running, this one is currently running at rock bottom of profits, much to their own error due to improper pacing and costly gatcha setups. While the game has some amazing visuals and a pretty good story for a "free to play" game, the difficulty scaling and power creep made things incredibly annoying at times, especially if your gatcha luck is the worst.

While it was possible to make things work with the available cards in the ability shop, lets just say that it was far from optimal, and required a decent understanding of underlying mechanics that originally needed to be figured out by others, who in turn (thank these souls) would provide guides to help move things along for players who were willing to listen, one of them being a user I came to know as Mrow. I will say this, don't try to troll a natural born troll, as he will go from helpful to downright snarky :P

I never had made a review for the game, but due to the impending closure and the fact that i did enjoy this game despite it's (and its owners) shortcomings, I felt that I should at least leave this review as a farewell to the game, before it was too late. After I have finished the main story, I will be putting this game to rest.

And a pro/con breakdown list:

pros:

-Beautiful visuals and artwork (cards)
-An amazing soundtrack that i will miss
-A simple enough combat system to understand
-Constant updates for issues that were brought up by the community

cons:
-problematic code led to issues with both mobile and pc versions of the game, leading to crashes and connectivity issues
-server base struggled at times with high volume, especially with the initial opening of the game
-combat mechanics relied far too heavily on standard jrpg techniques of high hp enemies = higher difficulty leading to sever powercreep issues, as new cards and jobs would be released at the time of new story content, resulting in older cards essentially becoming obsolete.
-heavy reliance on gatcha mechanics
-content became rushed in the latter years in a seeming effort to catchup to the jp version of the game

And with this, I must say farewell to Mobius FF, it was an interesting run, and funnily enough, despite the limited communication options due to strict management of in-game communication, I found some decent people through an mp game of all things. The Dreamers Society will not forget the paths we have taken up to this point.

Kenshi is wonderful sandbox game where you build your own story through your character (or multitude of characters) and the actions you have them take. Whether you work to rid the world of the villains that you perceive, become the richest person alive, or die trying, each choice is your own.

Now, the engine was home built by the devs which allows them a large degree of freedom in what they want to do (and allow modders to toy with), this also hampers the growth of the game itself, which is why the planned sequel will be using the Unreal engine instead. The game has it's own degree of bugs that so long as it is properly reported, the devs do their best to squash these out of existence.

Yes, the game can test the limits of your hardware, so potato pcs like my old laptop will struggle with the game, assuming they function at all.

In terms of difficulty, the base game does live up to its promise, and this can be adjusted with mods as you see fit, visuals are striking and just right for a game that plays as this one does. The soundtrack is overall very acoustic and gives the player the feeling of being alone in the wild with a large portion of the tracks that are available. Operating one character is pretty easy to do, but do expect some micromanagement if you increase your party. There are some "shortcuts" provided, but figuring out how they work and getting them to work like a well-oiled machine can take a bit of time to learn.

I personally give the game a 9/10 overall.

This is a great game with high replayablity, I swear, when I'm playing, I'm channeling my inner psychopath here.

I will say this though, if you don't want to hate yourself, start in Greenland or Norway, Greenland proves to be notoriously difficult to infect, especially when first starting out. If Greenland closes its sea port before its infected, you might as well call game over, as you are unlikely to succeed.
