The game is incredible. The developers, arrowhead, made something truly amazing by doing the unthinkable in this day an age - making a video game that is really fun, isn't designed to be a chore, and isn't trying to exploit me & my brain for money.

The publisher, Sony, pushed to force PSN account login, a requirement that caused issues for a lot of people who either weren't allowed to create PSN accounts because of their region (despite Sony selling the game there) or because Sony had egregious requirements for creating an account in other regions (e.g. facial scans & providing government issued ID).

The playerbase revolted, a review bomb ensued, and Sony backtracked on 06/05/24, stating that The May 6 update, which would have required Steam and PlayStation Network account linking for new players and for current players beginning May 30, will not be moving forward."

As a result of that change I've changed this review to positive. Amazing game, can't recommend it highly enough.

Hard, but good

Ok so at the beginning I did have a few issues with stuttering but got them sorted out and had a really smooth game even streaming from the same PC so my review won't be on that.



However, my main complaint is the story.
A lot of shooter horror games are fairly similar but to do a good one there needs to be something that makes it stand out, this has nothing...

Don't get me wrong the game visually is amazing and the sound design is on point but the main issue here is that we don't care... we no nothing about this world or the main character... or any of the characters to be honest.
The only time we learn a smidgen about them is halfway though a series of flashbacks that tell us the bare minimum that we already saw.

The gameplay is also SOOOOO lackluster its impressive.
You can't outrun enemys so you are restricted to blocking or dodging:
To block hold S
To dodge alternate between A and D
....
thats it... no rolling, no cool movement....just so bland

And that's all what it is, heck even though sections of the game where you are just walking so they can exposition dump on you they just stay quiet, it's so... I want to say stupid or oblivious but I have no idea how these simple things weren't picked up

When you're doing well, you're doing really well and it turns into inventory sorting simulator.

When you're doing bad, you're going that bad that you figure out you can sell your own ships fire extinguishers for money...

I had this game just before it got popular and had a huge amount of fun with it with friends, So glad it blew up!

I mean its a good game....

A great game, VERY hard to start out with but once you get the hang, easy to enjoy

Im sorry but after playing this game for over 400 hours recently i have had atleast one hacker in every game for the last 10 games, the last one alone had 3.... enough said...

This is by FAR the best game I've ever played. with now over 1,000 hours I can be classed as a semi-noob, at the beginning it will be the most frustrating game ever. it's a shame because it is what it is... id say if you can DEFINITELY PLAY WITH FRIENDS. I play solo and it is not the easy choice...AT ALL. when I occasionally do play with friends I always find it 10 times for fun, productive, and just generally a good time!!

I would recomend this game a lot i have currently over 225 games in my libary and this is my favourite!!
