I have done like 40 runs in this game, 6 of which were enough for me to finish the main story. During these 6 runs the game was excellent. Then all the other 34 runs were just mindless grinding for achievs. And even then, the DLC still helps out a ton or that number could easily go to 50~60.
I am still going to recommend the game for those 6 runs, and the music and art. But this game instantly turns to ass if you're going for the completionist.

Three Fairies' Hoppin' Flappin' Great Journey was not kidding with the "Great" in its name, as this game is amazingly long!

The game lives and dies by its battle system, where battles will all go automatically with sets of commands preset by the player loop over and over in a if/else fashion (people who know Final Fantasy XII will instantly recognize something similar to the gambit system of that game). This can be used to create loops in very creative ways. In fact, the game does expect you to, since your enemies all work under the same rules, and especially so in the boss fights, who have extremely inventive patterns.

This game is a truly amazing gem and it's really deserving of your attention, regardless of if you're into Touhou Project or not. It's graphics, music and story are all very chaming, and it's astounding that so few people even know this exists!
My only gripe with the title is its machine translation, which is undeniably there, but it's also noticeable that its spelling mistakes never hurt in any meaningful way. Nothing related to the gameplay is harmed by it, and aside from some grammar and mispelled names, everything is perfectly able to properly convey their meaning to the reader.

If you're ever wondering if you should get a new RPG game in your library, I urge you to at least remember this game, as all of its qualities combined with a very, very long campaign and contents are very much worth its full price.

Udongein X is an action platformer fangame based on Touhou Project, and let me tell straight up this game is AMAZING.
By giving the game a glance one can instantly assume the game is based on a certain blue character, and there's a lot of similarities there. I'd say the game controls feel somewhat like Mega Man Zero. They're tight and precise, the movement flows amazingly and it's EXTREMELY satisfying to play. But aside from the controls and stage selection format, i'd say the similarities with that other series end there, as it doesn't have some of the core tenets of that here. There are no boss weapons, no boss weaknesses. There is an upgrade system but it doesn't play out like what you'd expect from it initially. Of course, I don't mean this in a negative way.
And on another front, this being a Touhou fangame, one can notice an absurd attention to the detail. All the enemies, the backgrounds and music are EXCEPTIONAL. If you know what the game is about, you will keep yourself amazed at how much heart was put into producing this. The last level made me tear up on how beautiful it is.
If you don't assume that this will play exactly like some certain other game, this one is an exceptional product that I couldn't recommend enough. 10/10 on all fronts!

A gigantic dungeon crawler with a titanic ammount of content, fun to both touhou fans or not.
Stellar soundtrack, a fun story with some hilarious moments, really fun gameplay with loads of characters to choose from, and a deep crafting and upgrade system that's based on putting and removing seals on your pieces of equipment. (such as seals that make you resistant or make do more damage to specific species of enemies, seals that make you grow less hungry, status effects and so on)
Some of the optional content also has roguelike elements like total loss of progression, for those who like the higher stakes.
Overall a 10/10 game, couldn't recommend more if mystery dungeon is your thing.

This game is actually absurdly fun despite the very horny art.
The localization has some issues but nothing game breaking, and the game can be enjoyed just fine.
Overall great game, can recommend.
