I'll keep this reveiw short and sweet. The TLDR is as a fan of the series I loved this game and thought it wrapped up Lara and co's story very well. As someone who wanted an action packed, graphically amazing experience like I got from the last two games I was disappointed.

The sotry here, although a bit corny at the beggining, is good and the jungle setting is yet another completely different environment to explore. After finishing this game (which took just over 10 hours for the story) I felt saisfied with the ending to the trology and I'll probably go back and replay the previous two games now that I'm into it.

If you're someone who just plays games like this for the gameplay (scum) you're not going to enjoy this. The graphics are significantly worse than Rise of the TR, in a direct comparison, and as far as I can recall the graphics are worse than Tomb Raider 2013's, relative to the standards of the time. I found this, alongside the janky-as-all-hell anmations (the new devs gave up on the motion capture technology implemnted in the last two games, this time, and it was a big mistake) and play-dough character models very distracting throughout. The game also focuses more on "tome raiding" and puzzles than the last two entries (as many people, in other reveiws and online, have pointed out) but personaly I didn't mind this. I did sverely miss the satisying weapon upgrades from the previous games since any upgrades I got (which were sparse) I fel like I didn't get to use or couldn't even tell i had them.

As the third entry in a trology the previous games have simaltaneously been both this game's downfall and support. If you are a fan of the series you will probably like this game simply for the name and characters, but if you're a newcomer you will probably be discouraged by a lot of the negative reveiws (many of which I agree with) for this game when compared to the last two entires.

THOSE WHO PLAYED THE BROWSER VERSION:
This game is significantly more polished and contains many more features, so don't think it's just a port of that. It's also different develeopers, who in my opionion are doing a great job so far.

SUMMARY:
Having played the broswer vetrsion of this game a few years ago I didn't expect much, but me and a few mates purchased this game the day it came out and its great fun. It's quite simple but I enjoyed that - being able to just hop in and ♥♥♥♥ around. The visual style makes it easy to run witout looking like souce game and the premise of being in the middle of an empty ocean with nothing but a few planks adds a cool new element to seperate Raft from other open world survival games. Definately worth the $30 for me.

NOTES:
The game is in early access! The content available at the moment isn't vast - only about 15 hours of gameplay to unlock everything with a group of 4 and maybe 30 hours solo. That said the devs have made clear plans to release future content and have already brought out several updates with new items and features since the early access launch.

TLDR:

The same COD formula with some new additions to the MP and zombies experience with a significantly improved supply drop system. One of the best campaigns of the series, by far, but if you just want to buy the game, it is worth it, but I would wait for a sale.

To Adress The Performance Issues:

The game does suffer from some stuttering at max settings but I turned down the AA and some post-pr0ccessing effects such as subsurface-scattering and I get between 60-80 frames per second (Specs listed below) in the campaign. The multiplayer and zombies also seem to run significanlty better due to the lack of set peices and dozens of AI.

The Campaign
  • The campaign has a solid story with the classic COD formula but a bit more grit and less of the super soldier feel.
  • I love the new health pack system, which helps to prevent you running around like a crazy ♥♥♥♥ and acually adds some "groundness" to the combat.
  • This campaign is some good Call of Duty fun for a few hours with improved graphics and mechanics and the same great gun play.

Multiplayer
  • Some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ COD MP with hyper active, ADD-style, mechanics and supply drops.
  • There is a substantial improvement to the supply drop system with the ability to earn them from chalanges and get random drops every few games.
  • The headquaters are an interesting social area, basically a copy of Destiny's tower, I found it a bit of fun and a much more enticing way to get new challenges, open supply drops (you can watch each other as it's done by throwing a moke grenade in the headquaters :D XD), look at the leaderboard, etc.
  • If you've played COD before, you know what you're getting ere.

Zombies
  • A very simialar experience to previous games with the addition of some new types of zombies and some features such as the new power-ups.
  • The new horrow vibe with the awsome zombie models and graphics is great and just makes it generally a bit more "cool."
  • Basically the same but refreshed and new with some sick voice acting from the likes of David Tennant and still a ball with some mates.
  • The highlight of the experience, alongside the campaign.

My PC Specs:
  • Ryzen 7 1700
  • GTX 1060 6GB
  • 16GB RAM @ 2133Mhz
  • Galax Gamer L 120GB SSD
  • BenQ 1440p @ 27" (Game was run at native resolution, and no scaling ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥)

Also, my hours played are really low as I was playing in offline mode since my internet was out on launch weekend.

Post Patch 1.1

The update brings the foundations for a decent game we were promised years ago. It adds the following things:

• Base Building (modular, different types of objects and items)
• Multiple Game Modes (Standard, Hardcore and Creative)
• Improves Animal and Plant Life Algorithms
• Farming (Plants can be planted and harvested)
• Equipment (e.g mining machines)
• Frieghters (large ships that are actually larger than space stations and contain many NPC's, rooms and other terminals / objects)
• Graphical improvements (TAA WHOO HOO! Motion Blur NICE ;D AND NO MORE F*CKING 720p UPSCALE PRAISE THE LORD CUTHULU HIMSELF :DDDD)

All of this makes the game actually half decent and playable BUT we should have had all of this and more on release day. If HG can produce another update like this one in a month or so (rather than three...) I think we'll be on the clear path to a good game.

Fingers Crossed People :/

'Pre' Patch 1.1

There is three key problems with this game:

• Buggy / Poor performance
• Lack of multiplayer
• Extremely low replay ability (Due to lack of MP)

When you enter No Man's Sky it seems wondurful! Just what we were promised but then it dawns on you that there isn't multiplayer and after a few hours of talking to the same copy and pasted "Robot Guys" you're bored out of your mind... Its a survival game, like minecraft, but with 1/10 of the npc's, items and biomes (Planets) I say it has less locations / biomes then minecraft because every planet is the same thing with different coloured textures! I have explored about 30 planets and there is three distinct types of rock / dirt but they have the same animals and plants.

If you still think this looks like a good game then at least pirate it so you can test it first, I guarantee you win't be buying it after that!

INTRODUCTION
I want to preface this review by saying I've owned KOTK and JS since launch week, back in early 2015 (At this point they were one game, just called 'H1Z1') so I've seen the good, the bad and the ugly...

GOOD
When you first launch the game its easy to connect to a lobby, you simply pick your game mode (Solo, Duo or Five Player, all of which are Battle Royal variants) and wait anywhere from 2 seconds to a few minutes to reach the top of the queue. This process is painless, the loading times are only a 10-20 seconds (I play on a GTX 1060) and once you get into the game you can run around a lobby area and practice your mad driving skills. Also, once your are in the waiting lobby and the game is ready to start there is no loading screen in-between, it just drops you into the game, parachuting down.

The gameplay is pretty standard battle royal. There are 10 guns (3 Pistols, Revolver, AR-15, AK-47, Sniper Rifle, Shotgun and Bow & Arrow / Cross-Bow) as well as a selection of meelee weapons (Machete, Knife, Axe, Baseball Bat, Crowbar, Lead Pipe and More). As well as these weapons there is a selection of grenades (I CBF Listing Them). This pretty wide selection of weaponry is enough to keep you entertained and the gameplay varied, without too many balancing problems. (*Cough* Shotgun *Cough*)

Now when it comes to vehicles they are rare enough to be a challenge to get, and worth fighting for, without being so uncommon that you never even see one. As for the selection of vehicles, there are 4 (Jeep, Quad-Bike, Police Car and a Ute) each with there own handling, speed and fuel stats. This, again, is enough variety, without being too complicated and having balancing problems.

BAD
This isn't too big of a problem but the graphics are lacking, with zero Anti-Aliasing options and NO Post-Proccesing AT ALL this game looks rough. These would be acceptable but the foundation of the game are weak, textures look muddy, the FOV only goes to 74 (Yes, 74... the most random number imaginable) and the world seems to be made up of the same 5 buildings with a selection of grass or rock floor. Like I said earlier, gameplay is more important but some nicer graphics would be appreciated and it doesn't seem like an upgrade is going to happen any time soon.

UGLY
The ugly pars of this game are REALLY F*CKING UGLY! First off, the Australia servers have been removed in the last update so I have to teleport around a European / United States server and get called a hacker or listen to "JAHABAJA" on a Brazilian server, even the then, the connection is marginally better. And to top all of that off when your packet loss / ping gets too high YOUR WEAPON GETS "LOCKED" This has happened to me several times when my ping was not only uncontrollable since they removed the bloody servers but also unknown as there is no ping counter in the game. As you can probably tell Australian (and East-Asians Too) getting forgotten, or in this case, DITCHED, really gets me going.

CONCLUSION
So in short, this could be (I still hold hope) a good game. It's far better than DayZ Standalone and I would definitely recommend this as an alternative or substitute if you can buy it on sale, but as far as Survival Zombie games go, we're just not there yet. If your looking to buy this I do recommend it (Don't bother with Just Survive, it's the annoying little brother no one gives a ♥♥♥♥ about) but you will probably find yourself 'upgrading' to Escape from Tarkov or similar in the future, so the the question is "How Much Do You Thirst to Play a Survival Game?"

P.S There are several aspects I haven't talked about, like health packs, inventory navigation, menu systems and controls as you guys probably don't want to read this much and I don't have time to write about those aspects XD
