Early Access Review
I'm about 22 hours in as a trio, and this is my review of the game:

* It's still Early Access; I know the developers have some plans posted when the game loads up, but there doesn't seem to be anything about game play other than adding quests (talk more about this later). That's a little disappointing, as there is so much that can be done sooner rather than later to improve the game.

1. Enemies do not reliably respawn on islands after you've killed them. My trio has conquered a few islands (but hasn't claimed them as our own) hoping enemies would respawn for more PVP later on, but that's not the case. As there are a limited number of islands, it'll eventually just be us with no PVP save for the 'raids' every few days. Very 7-days-to-die, once the islands are gone.

2. It is not open world; it might be a bit more enjoyable if it was, or if there were more options for your server (limit of 16 players) to start different factions, build on separate islands, etc. That way, you could compete / be working against friends instead of having to be on the same team. There IS friendly fire (if you enable it), but you would all have to start on the same island as a group before taking over others to have that working-against-each-other kind of game play. That takes away all the PVP from NPC's, however.

3. Still quite a few glitches. The biggest two I've had is the boat glitching back to base, leaving you stranded in the ocean. Another is - when placing things in your base against a wall - you can access it from the other side of the wall. This means if you have storage boxes on either side of a wall, you really have to move around to find the right angle to hit the one you want. This can get frustrating.

4. Hackers are a big problem. I've tried password-protected lobbies as well as private lobbies (not shown as public) and have had hackers join both. They use God mode (unable to be killed) and spawn in insane amounts of loot we haven't even unlocked yet, then use it to try and kill us and/or demolish our base. Server hosts are able to kick people, but we don't get an alert when a hacker joins our server, so it's based on us finding them before they demolish our progress.

5. The map definitely needs to be bigger and contain more islands, as you can get through most of the game in a couple of days. This is where quests will come in handy; there is currently no point in the game other than to build a base, defend it from raids, and kill the NPC's on other islands. Again, you're left with a 7-days-to-die style game once you build a base and kill the NPC's on other islands.

Overall, I really do love the concept of the game. I love that you have to dive for loot, fight sharks, fight other factions, sail the seas to visit other islands, etc. I really hope the devs put more work into a story-line and quest-line, and that we see the devs either region-locking servers, or finding another way to keep hackers out, as this will kill the game before it even takes off.

While it does have a steeper price than other games, Dread Hunger is well worth the price, and if you're a fan of Among Us, this game is definitely for you.

Don't get me wrong: I've had some horrible experiences with griefing, players communicating on Discord to act against the rest of the group, sexism, racism, trolling, etc... That said, I've met a lot of great gamers. It's easy to meet enough people to form safer, less toxic groups to game with, since this game is such a social game.

There are some things I'd hope to see changed: I'd love to have more customizable game options, better level-up perks, more spell diversity for the thralls (imposters), different types of tasks for the crew, and maybe a purpose for 'ghosts'. Currently, when you die, you can spectate as a ghost, but it would be nifty if ghost thralls could still be menaces and ghost crew could still help in some way.

This is an amazing game for people who have friends all over the world. We love getting together and having 'Among Us' nights, though this game is sure to ruin the trust you have in your friends lmfao.

Don't play in the dark. In all seriousness, this is a great game for anyone that likes a little spook. It triggers a bit of anxiety - I usually end up playing with friends rather than alone - but it can be so fun, especially if you have a good sense of humour.
