Fun on the main pc, and a great candidate for a (somewhat) relaxing bed game on the steam deck. Digesting the usual tidbits of these games into a turn based format gives it a unique flair. Runs are way longer than you'd expect--especially when you're learning the ropes.

Addicting once you get the hang of it.

I like this game's artstyle & atmosphere a lot. Cool mix of world map interactivity, city building, and colony sim (on a macro scale i.e thousands of citizens). Developer puts out an unlimited demo that's an update behind whatever is currently out.

Overall it's a unique take on the genre where other games don't really step in, making it so if you're invested in other colony sims--this one won't be invalidated.

No game is without flaws, but this game clicked with my love of JRPGs, skill based combat and a fantastic narrative.

I originally had this game magically appear on my harddrive somehow I can't explain it but I felt so guilty that I had to buy it. A JRPG masterpiece that quickly spiraled to be my favorite game. Fantastic story, amazing soundtrack (a bit over 8 hours long--you'll constantly hear new battle themes), and the most fun combat you'll find in the genre. Parries, jump counters, perfect dodges, perfect inputs, and freeaiming allow for action without completely uprooting its identity--a very cool fusion to see. It's not the first of its kind to include active mechanics into the mix but its my favorite to do it. You will rarely get "statchecked" to a fight if you're just that good enough with parries and dodges. Not only are the graphics fantastic, but the art direction is phenomenal. I don't really care if a game "looks realistic" if it's not necessarily interesting for what its trying to be. Everything is creative and vibrant.

Although the main story can be completed in 23-33 hours ish, there's plenty of optional content in the lategame you can pursue. If you're hungry for more content near the end of the game--there's plenty to satisfy you to say the least. Plenty of locations and hidden/optional bosses between the chromatic versions (reg enemies with buffed moveset) and straightup new bosses to fight that feel like main story bosses. I do wish I immediately finished the main story instead of doing optional content when I had the choice just to not be overleveled.

Gearing & party management is very fun. Minimal grinding is needed in my experience. Lot of skills for everyone to use.

I think my only issues with it after it was all said and done was the lack of an in-area map/minimap, some minor audio issues, and sometimes flat facial expressions during combat or scenes. It's pretty easy to get lost in some areas. In old JRPGS you made do though.

This was an emotional rollercoaster, with a beautiful setting, and plenty of party bonding & talks that allowed you to bond to the characters well.

All of this and pricing it $20 under industry standard is crazy.

Fun game that has a few of my fav vocalists. Fantastic soundtrack if you're into this kind of music. Could've had more boss variety and weapons in base game but as it stands it's still a very good & unique package.

When I was a pre-teen I was sorta mixed on this game, and I still am. The enhanced edition makes the "where do I go" segments way less cumbersome via the compass--but I really don't enjoy this as a sequel to 1, and not really too much on its own. Liked it enough to finish it on nightmare (gameplay is alright, and railgun + BFG10k were nice), but not enough to carry me through the expansions. I'm sure call of the machine would've been fantastic like 1's dimension of the machine if I had loved base game--but it just isn't for me. If it wasn't for the quad damage and similar sounds, I feel like you could rename the game and barely tell its a sequel to the first.

The only reboot Doom I have issues with, but I still enjoyed it better than Doom 2016 for having more mechanical gameplay. I think this is an overall downgrade from Eternal, but it's still worth your time if you love Doom in general. Some sections and concepts felt rough around the edges or just unneeded in my eyes.

The dragon sections need 4-5 times better combat if theyre gonna make you do it like 3-4 times total. You sit and wait for the green projectile and press space, sometimes staring for what feels like 6-7 seconds. Atlan sections could have been faster and more expressive. Melee pre-dreadmace couldve stood to be more effective--and less of an alternative Eternal chainsaw you throw on fodder for ammo refill. Boss fights felt more engaging than previous entries as far as I remember.

I did enjoy the parries, projectile deflects, shield runes, and throwing the shield saw.

Soundtrack caught my attention a few times but I still prefer the previous entries with Mick and others sound-wise.

It's still reboot Doom at its core, so it's better than most other FPSes you'll play if you value fast gameplay. Had a lot of fun once I got used to it.

Like nova drift was to asteroids, utopia must fall is to missile command. Good, mindless fun with a great aesthetic. It doesn't go as crazy with the builds as nova drift, but it still is worth your time if you liked it. They shifted to a custom engine it seems which allows >60fps.
