TLDR: Wait and see if the myriad of problems are fixed and, if they are, get it on sale. Not worth $60 in its current state.

I had a lot of fun with this game for the first 40 hours. A semi-tactical cover-based shooter with RPG elements and tons of loot - what's not to love? The main campaign was a lot of fun; running around the city and collecting audio logs and loot and completing side missions was a lot of fun; it got repetitive by the end of it, but it was fun and I was ready for what was next.

Once I hit the level cap at level 30 and began playing in the PvE-focused but PvP-possible dark zone, it stopped being as much fun. The grind is less fun (enemies take exponentially longer to die - an entire clip of mostly headshots from a machine gun) and less rewarding (loot seems to rarely drop) than other games. Slower fighting AND crappier loot is a bad one-two combo. So, after about 12 hours of dark zone exploration (a few hours solo, which is like putting a "please gank me" sign on your back), I took a break for a few weeks. During that time I've been discouraged by reading consistent reports of expanding use of hacks by cheaters and a developer that is slow to act on this OR fix massive (pun intended) exploits that, if you don't participate in them, you're placed so far behind the curve that it would literally take months to catch up.

Still, I tried again. And, in my first foray into the dark zone I was killed a half a dozen times by a hacker - someone with incredible accuracy and fire rate from a block away with an SMG, who then teleported next to me and killed me instantly. Stuff like this simply isn't fun. It's frustrating because its unbeatable. I don't need that from a video game. Very disappointed in how my experience with this game turned out because I can easily see how it could have been so much better.
