In its current state, I recommend buying the game and playing through the campaign at least once and having a play around in the end-game. Despite the developers pausing campaign development to work on the end-game, however, I think it massively fails to provide the same kind of enjoyment of end-game content as the original game does.

To summarize what I personally think the good and bad points are...

Good Points:
  • Campaign is great
  • Game looks fantastic and runs extremely well
  • Introduction to the earlier parts of end-game are great
Bad Points:

  • Players are steered towards making builds that focus on extreme survivability due to the end-game map closing if you die
  • There isn't a reliable way to step into end-game bosses without a lot of luck or currency, whereas you could target boss maps on the previous game as a reliable way to acquire boss map fragments
  • Talents could be under good or bad points to be honest... They're simple, but compared to the first game have no depth or anything comparably interesting
  • The game in general feels more restrictive, like I'm being told that I have to play a semi-specific way. For example, I can't the same support in multiple skills.

I still do recommend the game, but I just think that outside of the campaign it doesn't feel fantastic. As an enjoyer of glass cannon-esque builds, I can't heavily recommend it because it just makes you want to close it when you die in an end-game map and lose it instantly. My approach to end-game on POE1 was to overcap resistances, have 100% spell suppression, have evasion/energy shield to the point I'm kind of tanky and then integrate it into a mageblood build down the line. At least if I died on POE1 I knew I had five more attempts to finish the map...

Not entirely sure why it says I have no hours, but I've played about six hours of the DLC since originally making a review stating my performance was fine. It still seems fine with none of the issues people are mentioning in their reviews.

The DLC plays well so far. It's fairly obvious that it was developed to essentially start players off at the same point in terms of the damage we take and deal. I'm playing through it alongside a friend and we do about the same damage and take the same damage despite our level differences. The collectable power-up is designed to be used, by the looks of it.

It's a well-rounded, well-optimised take on a Battle Royale game. It's like playing PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds if they fixed all of the input lag, performance issues and other various bugs that it has. The main difference is that it adds a bit of flavour by adding classes with abilities.

The studio behind the game show a lot of promise, fixing the majority of issues that the game had during it's two open access beta periods. It was overrun with cheaters in the same manner that PUBG was, and this was completely dealt with by the end of the first period of open access. The remaining performance issues were fixed by the end of the second period of open access.

There are a lot of negative reviews of the game based on it's system for micro-transactions. I don't think they're in-correct as you can unlock permanent skins but it's a pain. I also don't think it's necessarily a bad thing for a company to try something. They listened to feedback and are re-designing the store. You were never forced into buying skins in the first place, so in my eyes it's not an issue but they have listened.

The game shows a lot of promise and I'll probably continue to sink time into it.

Lots of fun, chaos and frustation.

Honestly, despite all of the negative reviews, most of which being about performance, it's actually a very solid game. I'd like to start off by pointing out that it's an early-access game that actually has direction, a release date, and isn't stuck in development hell.

Here's talking about you, DayZ...

There are a couple of issues, such as being fairly demanding and having a little bit of early-game lag, but honestly, that's about it in terms of my experience with performance. If you have a half-decent PC, which you should if you're a PC gamer, then you're good to go. I do have to recommend that if you haven't already, you should upgrade your RAM to at least 16GB since most games require more as of late.

I've included my specification and a screenshot of in-game settings. The FPS counter hovers around the 144FPS cap for the majority of my gameplay, which is what I would like it to be.

Computer Specification
  • Intel i7-7700k @ 4.2Ghz (4.5Ghz boost clock)
  • Gigabyte G1 6GB 980TI
  • 16GB Corsair Vengeance RGB (2x8GB) 3200Mhz
  • ASUS Z270-P Motherboard
  • BenQ XL2411Z 144Hz Monitor

Here is the settings I am using. These are mainly for advantage to be honest. Up until yesterday, I had everything on ultra, but this provides an advantage whilst looking for people.

This is a great re-imagining of the original Resident Evil. Although this is a remaster of the Gamecube remake, it is still a beautifully done game and is well worth a purchase if you are a fan of the series. There is a significant difference in graphic quality and a number of options not available in the original or Gamecube remake.
