It's a sequel to STALKER, it's not Far Cry, Fallout, or the mod packs.

If you don't like the older games, I don't think this will change your mind, but if you do; you'll have a great time!

Early Access Review
This game is a lot of fun! I checked the demo out and while ago, and was stoked when the devs sent me a key! It's a pretty solid FPS with rougelike elements, it's got a unique style and vibe, and I've been enjoying it quite a bit.

My only main gripe with the game so far is the framerate is really bad the longer the levels go on, and I think it's from bodies that aren't despawing. It makes the game very hard to play, but after patch I think this game is really worth checking out.

Pros :
Soundtrack: It still rules.

The look of the game: The devs really nailed the vibe and looks of Silent Hill.

The writing/Cutscenes: Very very good, the acting especially is incredibly well done

Cons:
Level design: I really hope you like loops, because every area is just a series of small loops.

Puzzles: The game kinda treats you like an idiot, (I played on normal), puzzles and there solutions will often be right next to each other, and not until the end of the game does it really feel like you're allowed to make mistakes.

Railroading: Everything in the remake is very very straightforward, It can be a positive at times, but for fans of the original it feels pretty simple.

Combat: It's fine. It's like if SH Homecoming actually had decent combat. But it's still just okay and is weirdly a big center point a lot of the time, which is really odd for a survival horror game.

The mannequin enemy: They are honestly worse than the Imp Jumpscares in Doom 3. They get extremely annoying by the end of the game especially.

Repetitive scenes: I sure hope you like sticking your hand in a hole in the wall, and jumping down a hole in the floor, because you do each about 4/6 times throughout the game. Which I wouldn't even usually care about, but just doing the action, you have to hit the button 2-3 times to get James to continue to do the action, (to build suspense I guess?) but nothing ever plays out differently so it just get's annoying after you've done it 4 times before.

I still recommend finding a way to experience the original game over the remake, but Bloober Team did a much better job than I was expecting after the initial few trailers for the game.

*SPOILERS*

-There is a mandatory stealth section near the end of the game and it's just as ass as you'd expect it to be.

Short and sweet platformer with a cute concept.

Totally check it out. Especially if you like couch co-op.

This game wants to be both DOOM 93' and Doom Eternal and fails at committing to being either.

It leaves Boltgun somewhere in the middle where most of it's core ideas have a fault to them and every single enemy in the game is a bullet sponge because they really wanted to implement rules from the table top game into this.

That might be amazing for 40K fans, but for fans of shooters it means the longer you play the more of a drag this game becomes.

I don't think this is an outright bad game, and I would be interested in playing a sequel. The developers just need to either decide if they want an old school boomer shooter or something fast paced and modern. That clash of ideals is what holds this game back from being great.

*Review in progress*

I tried playing this game last week before the update and it was rough without mods. I waited until this big new update and although the general performance is better, there are still a lot of broken aspects of the game now.

From my few hours with a new play-through so far:

-Game crashed repeatedly, switching from ULTRA to HIGH settings fixed it
-Borderless windowed option still launches the window off-center
-Ultra wide works now, but there is still no FOV slider which is odd, and it does break some of the menu options such as going to sleep.
-Lip-syncing is just, totally broken for everyone
-One of the first terminals has a chair in the ground in front of it, part of the world, and if you try and access that terminal, you will get stuck and be forced to reload a save to fix it. Tried it twice and it broke the game both times.

This is just from playing the game again for a few hours, and so far I'm not impressed. If you're planning on picking up this game again or for the first time and don't want to deal with mods, then I would recommend waiting for Bethesda to fix their broken game (again).

Even if you're not the biggest fan of RoboCop, the team behind this game clearly shows a lot of love for the source material, and made a pretty solid game out it as well. Well done yall

Short and sweet puzzle game. Creative puzzles, and the game does what it sets out to do and that's it. Plenty of optional levels too if you want more of a challenge.

Wish the assistant wasn't so grating, but she isn't around much in the later half of the game.

Pros:

- Max Payne with vampires, that's always going to be cool
- Narration/Voice acting, James especially is very well written and voice acted.
- Presentation, the style is just cool, I just wish it went further and got weirder
-Story

Cons:

- Very drawn out. overstays its welcome
- Gets repetitive very quickly
- Gunplay is off, weapon reloads are slow for this type of game as well
- Enemy and level variety. 20 levels in you've basically seen everything, and you still have about 20+ more to go.
- Lack of indicators, either low health or projectiles. Can't count the number of times I died to a lock-on fireball nailing me from off screen.
- Balancing. Beat the game on the intended difficulty and still died quite a bit. Some enemies are a joke and other are just annoyingly god-tier.
- Damage. Sometimes a weapon is a one-shot kill, other times it takes 4 shots to the head. The game can't decide if the weapons want to work or not.

I really wanted to like this game more, but there just isn't a ton here worth spending the duration of the story to see. The gunplay is just okay, and the lack of enemy and weapon variety make the game very redundant.

A sequel where the tighten things up could be promising, but unless you're really desperate for a slightly different Max Payne, then I'd suggest picking this up on sale or skipping it outright.
