I am a hardcore RPG fan and loved the original Dragon Quest games for a different reason than most.

I loved the recruiting aspect of the game, and how it felt like a mercenary simulation more than a set path like Final Fantasy 4.

This game art is on top tier, beautiful game to look at.

English audio is on par with the look, as well the story is entertaining.

This is actually one of the better RPG linear story lines I have came across.

I do not want to demean the level this game is, and the want I have for more on the PC.

I just want to emphasize that the main character in this does not contribute dialogue.

This was a type of story building that was made to further immerse a player in the old RPGs.

SPOILER* Not even a few hours in to the game, you come back to the town you started at to see your main character as a child. When you see yourself as a child, the kid actually does speak, and I believe personally that is what puts this game down when the other aspects are such a high tier.

AMAZING RPG, if you like RPGs, particularly a square RPG, this is a must have especially if on sale.

The ONLY downside is the main character not having a voice actor leading to awkward presentation, and you not being more free form in mercenary recruitment which I had found to be a aspect similar to the class change in Final Fantasy. Something not a staple to each entry and shouldn't be expected by people that play this series.

Support this game so Square will bring more to Steam/PC.

This is a game that deserves it with out a doubt, ALOT of care was put in to this project.

This is a hardcore RPG in the modern day.

Interesting story, interesting gameplay, it will keep any RPG fans attention.

I have yet to complete the game, but by the nature of the gameplay alone this deserves the positive rating ASAP.

More RPG should start to take notes on the older games as this one had.

Streamlining mechanics to the point the industry has with RPG have ruined the depth of many games.

I am happy to welcome this back, and suggest others to give it a try.

I played this game from start to finish.

Choices do actually matter, that isn't a catchy slogan.

The action kept me entertained.

I would be happy to see a sequel or a expansion.

This is what modern RPG Horror Games should aspire to for their first title.

I hope they expand and continue this series.

I bought the game full price, I own every Final Fantasy game possible on Steam, I have been a fan of the franchise since the Playstation 1.

The fact they discount the game, then put this up as a DLC making it the original price of the game is a bit of a slap in the face considering this update was on other platforms.

Feels like Square is taking advantage of the die hard fans, charging $17 is a insult.

If you are a die hard fan, I suggest getting it, but I would wait for the price drop otherwise don't support this type of practice.

This is practically a OVA of the Final Fantasy series with a low budget so they could focus more on refining the game rather than graphics.

It is not meant to be taken serious.

HOWEVER,

If you are a Final Fantasy fan, this is a MUST HAVE, it is the comedy styled niche that may never be seen again for FF.

I was pleasantly surpised.

If you are not a fan of the original series, the characters are dumb beyond reason, if you like the anime style comedy that is popular in anime as a simple RPG you may even be entertained as well.

Love the experience of the game, and I hope they come out with a sequel however unlikely.

I am writing this review after the summer 2018 DLC addition.

I got this game originally when it first came out, and that is when most reviews for this game were made understandably so.

The characters in the first game weren't fully transitioned over(GT particularly), the quests seemed a rehash with small differences.

However the added items and skills, among small other additions allowed it to be passable.

Now that the game has been out for a year or so, and has a good amount of DLC content.
I will say this has become one of my favorite DBZ games of all time.

The character roster is amazing, it has many outfits from Dragonball, Z AND Super/GT.

The combat isn't a evolution, but this is now very deserving of the sequel title it had released with.

If anyone owns the game highly suggest getting the DLC, and if you don't own this game as well like DBZ this will be one to remember.

ONLY ♥♥♥ aside the basic mechanic downfalls of Xenoverse the original, is that they do not include Dragonball the original series characters or stories.

That shouldn't be surprising if you are a fan, they are very few and far inbetween.

If however Xenoverse 3 were to emerge, and they take all this content from 2 then add the Dragonball aspect, finish the movie roster list such as Garlic JR.

This game will be at masterpiece level in my opinion overshadowing Budokai.

They finally give us what we wanted since S1.

Then they title it the Final Season and only give us 4 episodes.

I suppose I should be happy, and it is bittersweet.

Really it just shows how much they screwed over the fans and want to get away from that PR fiasco their games became.

Glad we finally got a actual competent sequel that isn't a scam.

Shame it isn't even a whole season and still with the time remaining could not address the multitude of fan service you left unanswered from 3 games of cliff hanging characters.

Classic RPG.

Small gripes about the interface.

If you alt tab full screen goes off and you have to switch it back every time.

Every now and then you may get a small lag glitch.

There is no music during the dialogue scenes making it a bit awkward sounding.



The plot and premise however is amazing, a truly unique Square title.

If you like RPGs I highly suggest giving it a try.

The flaws are much more undermined than the positives.

(MINOR PROLOGUE STORY SPOILERS FOR A EXAMPLE)

This may be the truest choice based RPG that effects the actual environment, story, characters that I have ever seen in my life.

I am going to give my personal example of the current starting story, by which I have made many now, that seemingly flows as if it was created to go in that way, when there is literally dozens of decisions that lead to that very very intricate story line.

I made a elf, and went around the starting island where you have the choice of various companions.

Leaving out my other two to keep away from as many spoilers as possible, one of them was a elf.

At the start of your line, when you speak to the god depending upon which race you chose, you will have each corresponding god.

I had a elf, and saw the elf god.

The elf god claimed me to be the soul prophet and I should become his star pupil.

Meanwhile, the elf that I had obtained a former slave, had the same exact vision.

I had to be a elf, get her, then specifically talk to her after that, and have her in my party prior to the conversation.

Only to find out, the elf god said the same exact thing to her as he did it with you.

If you had not had that elf, you would based off of given information at that moment, believe the god by face value.

However because of those very distinct choices, it gives you a bit more information altering the entire narrative.

All done, from your own decisions and experience.



If you love that old school choice mechanic that was never implemented due to voice dialogue storage capabilities.

This is the dream you have been waiting for.

Divinity Original Sin 2, more than shockingly has made me, someone that HATES isometric top down, to a point of understanding this is one of the best RPGs of all time.

ANY RPG fan MUST give this a solid try.

It takes time to get in to understanding the magic, but once it starts, it doesn't stop.
