Runs like trash on a 3080, no invert-x axis option. Gross.

Pretty much the worst entry in the entire soulsborne series. I preordered this game and I've been disappointed every time I play it since 2016. We should have gotten a fleshed out DS1 with a proper second-half instead of a new game that's ♥♥♥♥.

Game sucks. Drops inputs. Inconsistent timing on the blades. Huge hitboxes. Tight jumps for no reason. Sometimes you have to wait for the blades to travel their path again for an opening because of some weird timing issue where the blades go out of sync. Can't toggle the gravity if the cat is near the edge of a platform, which will lead to you dying, a lot, through no fault of your own.

Really cool game. It's horribly balanced to the point that alt+f4ing the route I choose to stop playing. The white cards feel much more punishing than the black cards ever feel empowering. There's other minor annoyances in the game, like the beginning animation for the dev, and the repeated "cutscenes" when you try to start a run. I already saw them once. Let me load into the board immediately. The game also (sometimes) stops you from firing your gun at pieces, even when killing them would remove you from check. I think the game would be an easy A, if the annoyances were removed and the cards were better balanced.

It's cute, it's neat, but the controls are so horrible it isn't worth playing. Skip.

Editing after playing for another 20 minutes... holy moly the controls are so bad I just alt+f4ed the game. No. Just. No.

I never had a grandiose "aha" or eureka moment when playing this puzzle adventure game. I either understood everything clearly enough, or with time, went "well that's annoying." The secrets and puzzles gave me no sense of happiness, purpose, or meaningfulness when playing the game. It's honestly very exhausting looking through the manual (which is a crime to flip through) to either decipher stuff or look for clues. The game was pretty decently made (it has many small annoyances that compound and make the game less fun, and sometimes, infuriating to play) and is obviously very clever and well thought out (in concept, design elements are hit-and-miss.) It's incredibly cute in design and graphically very consistent and pretty. Combat is okay, not the best or most polished I feel, but easy enough to get into. It just didn't jive with me enough to call it a masterpiece, but it may be a masterclass in puzzle adventure games.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first 10ish hours of the game. Just running around hitting stuff, going places, and getting stronger. The secret items, pages (manual), fairies, mountain door, holy cross, etc were the downfall in fun and ability to enjoy the full scope of what the game has to offer. The holy cross thing was simple to understand (its written pretty clearly in the manual) but finding all the fairies and what not... no... that's awful. I found no enjoyment whatsoever in trekking through the game to try and find each fairy holy cross spot, or tediously inputting the combo.

I think the game is good enough when you ignore the puzzles (get the "bad ending") to buy it on sale, just enjoy the (shortish) adventure with very minimal puzzle solving, and beat the final battle; a casual run doesn't really require all that much thought put into it. However, if you really enjoy puzzles, obtuse linguistic deciphering (like Fez,) and adventuring, you'll absolutely love this game because it delivers on all those fronts spectacularly and you should buy it regardless of its current price tag.

Tunic... is a good game. It isn't the best. It isn't the most fun I've ever had. It doesn't have the most annoying puzzles. It doesn't have the best combat. It doesn't have the best adventuring or exploration. Its map design was probably the single best element of the game. The interwoven passages and round-about-ness made me feel like I was discovering Lordran all over again. It's a fine game that delivers an experience. That experience is what you shape it to be, whether its full dedication to the puzzles and unlocking every secret the game has to offer, mastering its combat and plowing through every battle to race to its finale, or figuring a ton of stuff out and being bored of the game so you then resort to using a guide because the tedium of discovering everything on the map left you feeling unmotivated, bored, and vexed.

Just like other Humble games that had pretty good potential and a good base to build from, development has stopped. Don't buy it. You'll probably get 5-10 hours of gameplay before you're like "welp, I'm bored!" If that's worth $20 to you, go for it, I suppose.

...wow.

This has to be the most captivating game I've ever played. The story was beautiful, intriguing, fantastical; it was such a wonderful experience in every way. The accompanying music was truly gorgeous, it really set the mood and made every scene feel so much more real, warm, and true. The art is fantastic, a little varying in terms of consistency, but not at all ever bad. The only negative, and the sheer wonderment I felt while playing completely toppled and tossed this aside, is the script-based engine/gameplay does feel slightly clunky, but it really isn't that bad and you quickly acclimate and don't really notice.

It'd be a disservice to anyone looking to play this game, to explain its story or any elements to it. The first half an hour made me think this game was going to be pretty simple, with a gentle story. It was so much more. It shattered my expectations and transcended to a higher experience. I haven't felt emotion while a story was unfolding quite like this, ever.

A marvel of fiction. A testament to how great a game can be by just having a rich, complex story filled to the brim with somber excitement.

5/5, 7/5, 10/10, 100/100. Whatever grading you prefer to use, this deserve the highest rank.

You're a little wobbly marshmallow grooving around a blank canvas until you spurt your juices everywhere. When your juices start flowing and you mallow the marsh, it's a very pretty game and a joy to look at.

So, that sounds really cool!

Except, it would be a great game, if it wasn't insanely clunky. Your ability to wibble-wobble about isn't nearly as fluid as it should be; it feels like one tiny little wiggle to change directions jettisons you across gaps and then you land on spikes. I like roasted marshmallows too, but darn man, that ain't fun. It acts like the game runs at 25 FPS. It's just annoying to play because it feels so insanely awful to actually weeble-wobble. A shame, really.

Riot shields, one-hit-kill throwables, bad maps, no map filter, no map voting, cringe voice chat, higher price.

Yup, it's CoD. Don't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ buy it.
