I say this with a conflicted heart and the experience of having played every From Software game and many other souls-like games (Lies of P, original LOTF, the Surge 1&2, Remnant 1&2, etc). I love this genre, and this game has had my eyes on it since it came out.

However, this game is frustrating, but not because of its difficulty, but because of how it's executed. It seems for every fun and awesome feature of it (the Umbral plane, the beautiful dark fantasy setting, the huge variety of builds) it had an equally frustrating and opposing aspect (endless amount of traps/cheap enemy location, large amount of dark underground or platforming levels, too many awesome items being available too late to build around).

I wanted to like this game, I really did. And honestly, right around until before the last area, I was leaning towards leaving a positive review. However, the level design and the grindiness of the last stage has left me just wanting to finish this game and never touch it again. There's a threshold of oppressiveness that a game can design around before it becomes un-enjoyable for the player, and I believe this game passes it.

I know some will say "git gud", and maybe that's true, but I've reached the point where it's just not fun anymore unfortunately, which has never happened for a souls-like for me. I will still beat it, and maybe that will leave me changing my review, but for right now I can only recommend this if you are truly a glutton for punishment.

I will definitely keep an eye out for more content from this developer, as there is definitely potential, but this just isn't as good as it could be.

A Risk of Rain remix, this game brings all the best parts of RoR while still managing to change the recipe and atmosphere enough to draw you in. Although not super fleshed out in terms of overall plot and story, the game has solidified its awesome core gameplay loops and mechanics.
Highly recommend for folks who enjoyed games like Hades, Curse of the Dead Gods, and RoR.

This is one of those moments I wish Steam had a "Maybe" option for recommendation. Although it does capture the essence of Kona I mixed in with a bit more survival horror, it loses some of its charm in the second half of the game, full of repetitive backtracking and annoying tasks. Lastly, just play the game in Survival; I'm not sure how easy Normal difficulty is, but I ended Survival with well over 200 bullets.

I think had I purchased the game at full price, my review would have been a no, but at a 40% discount, it was a pleasant experience. Overall, I'm still looking forward to a potential Kona III.

Can't wait for the VR DLC add-on!

An incredibly amazing game, that while a bit quirky at first to get used to, absolutely engrossed myself and my partner in the experience. Don't expect any mind-breaking graphics or mechanics, but the relaxing soundtrack and fun puzzles kept us coming back for more. Definitely recommend if you have a partner that does not play video games but can handle basic VR gaemplay.
Crazy this game came out in 2017 and I've seen nothing like it since then. Would definitely buy more of this type for couples that live together,

A sequel that ended up meeting the majority of the hype it generated, Remnant II delivered and more with the next installment in the series.
Honestly, if you liked the first one, you will like the second one, maybe even more. The biggest change for me has been performance, but that is due to my computer simple aging.
If you never played the first one, I highly recommend you start there, not only due to the lore making more sense, but also because the gameplay is essentially the same and there's no major difference besides maps, weapons, classes, etc.
Dark-souls with guns executes again!

Only 14 minutes of gametime, and I can already feel the combination of the comfort of nostalgia with the pursuit of discovery mixing together like a well executed recipe.
A beautiful remaster that only improves on the original while showcasing the passion of the development team.
RoR 1 players will rejoice and RoR 2 are only missing out if not giving it a shot.

What an interesting design to a roguelite deck builder.
Not only does the game have an amazing soundtrack with a beautiful pixel artstyle, but the gameplay loop is incredibly unique compared to anything I've ever played.
If you're looking for a casual deck builder to play while tuning out to a show, this is definitely not the game that fits that bill.
However, if you're looking for a game like Slay the Spire but with a more continually engaging experience, this is definitely one to try.
