for reference: steam hours do not include all of the time I spent on the blizzard app, and I spent quite a lot of time on the blizzard app.

what kind of player is doing this review?
I am a titan main who raid somewhat regularly when im playing (usually once every two weeks or so) and enjoys modes like gambit.

I started playing destiny 2 at the release of Warmind. it wasnt great. but even that was much better than release. Leviathan to this day is still an incredible raid experience that I would recommend to any player. strikes were bad and PvP was fairly repetitive, but the game was playable.

With Forsaken, The game changed dramatically, giving players access to special ammo weapons again, as well as a truly great, but annoyingly complex raid. It introduced gambit, (which is now completely free) a PvEvP mode which, while still enduring growing pains, is a great experience once you wrap your mind around the mechanics. these changes and content were yet another step forward for the game.

Now, The year of content. I cant comment too much, but its all free and has great experiences like Scourge of the Past, great exotics with guaranteed quests, and activities like menagerie.

finally, Shadowkeep. The game flew ahead in quality yet again from forsaken, in ways I didnt even know I needed. the content is interesting, for what it is, but most importantly, it opened it up completely to you.

TL:DR If youre thinking about pressing that download button and waiting 2-6 hours, the answer is yes. The game presented before you is a living culmination of growth on the part of a team of very committed and talented devs who love their game and try to listen to their community.

Good Luck,
Guardian.
