A little buggy with server issue but PvE player is real nice and supportive.

KInd of chill if you got big group to play with. Also, got a bit of Secret World Legends vibe.

It use to be a game with bare bone system in BETA-ish state for a year after release.
Then the XBOX update came along and now the game is prime & most of the bug got fix & update.

It really fun & addict to play now.
So, It all water under the bridge, I guess.

Keep an eye on them DEV though.
They like to somehow make weird change to the game & then fix it when player notice what they just did.

KEEP TELLING THEM WHAT IS WRONG OR THEY WILL NOT FIX IT.

I bought this game on 25 June 2018.

Playing it a bit, Game seems OK but needs some balancing & code fixing.
I do like the art style & Theme of the game, So I stop and wait for it to be fully released.

Then, I saw the season pass which implies the game got a soft reboot.
At that time it still not got things for me to consider to get the pass.
So, I wait a bit more...

Fast forward to TODAY, 27 June 2023. YEARS have passed.

SOMEHOW, The original MAIN CREWS that make the code,
Make the art, GOT KICKED OUT of the dev team for I don't know how long.

NOW replace by delusional new devs that think they can do better by DELETED & CENSORED the old crew's work!

They fix NOTHING & Bring NOTHING into this game.
While patting themselves on the back for the change that NOONE ASK.

STAY AWAY from this skeleton corpse of a game, for it is no longer what it is and will never be the same.


PS. To the new DEVs & those who pretend to be new customers of the new game change.
I'm not some white guy whining, You fools. I'm living in the SEA region Asian whose culture got racist remarks by your political way of thinking, day in & day out.

It use to be the "Standard of Battle Royale game" when it still has its price.
It even got its own iconic item, a bulletproof "Frying pan".

After it went "FREE TO PLAY", Cheaters/Hackers run rampant in every match.

The good old frying pan is no longer enough to block all that toxicity...
What a shame...

Still, I will put it on "Recommended".
Only for those who know what you going into & because I know what it use to be like back in the day.

I got this game at a cheep discount price so I don't mind about it going free to play.

HOWEVER. This is game made by EA we are talking about.

New comer BEWARE.
This game DLCS are VERY PRICEY.
AND MANY. Wait for discount/sale season ONLY.

UPDATED REVIEW: 2022/01/31

What I predict is now confirmed as truth but it did end in a good way.
Clive Barker got his right back, the original VA of Pinhead redo his lines, and it is all perfect.

No more NFTs related to any content of this DLC, The dev cut all connections to the scam.

So, The DLC is now worth the money & this also supports the original right owner & VA.


TL; DR:
- The DLC, You purchase it, HE CAME.
- Oh, No refund, please. It's a waste of good voice lines.

What a load of disappointment.
He use to have a good voice line, now it is all void & his 3d model gets used as a legal loophole NFTs scam.

I bet it has to do with the original right owner (Clive Barker) finally going to get his right for this film again.
(He did nothing wrong BTW, He is chill about it, They can just call him to arrange the license agreement.)

Instead of doing it the right way by letting the right owner get his thing back & rearrange the deal.
DbD dev now tries to gain more money before they need to give some money back to him by putting the 3d model on NFTs scam & making him need to work more to get his right back.

So, I predict it will go on like this:
No voice line until the real right owner can grant the right to use it.
The real right owner will have to do legal stuff to those NFTs scams that holds his character hostage as NFTs 3d model.


SO... WE AS PLAYERS STUCK IN A LOOP AT THE MOMENT.

Remember the old school Fallout 1&2 ?
This is what Fallout 3 would be if it continue as turn-based RPG.

It got some mean bugs at launch but now that DEV stick to it and patch it up.
I can say this is a must buy for those who like the style.


So the real question is...

Spirit box: YES.

After the DEV went solo and out of Square Enix control.
Things starting to look much better for them.

Their development cycle seems to slow down but it comes with great content&event afterward.
The glitch and joke in this game are great and the DEV is self-aware as well.

TL;DR: They have a HOMING BRIEFCASE.

I rate this game Briefcase/10.
Recommended, Will throw it again and again.
