It's one of the best VR experiences, thanks to mods. Without, it barely holds together.

So it is one of those, "I can only recommend it with mods and cannot recommend it without". Thankfully cool people have made the process mostly automated to have a full experience with mod lists like FUS.

Detention, a Taiwanese horror adventure game, that's still terribly relevant. It being still relevant does a terrible disservice to the game's point, which felt deeply personal and well told in this short game.

Dug it and I am a scaredy cat.

An absolute masterpiece that smacks you, then when you are already down and weeping, it keeps kicking, for several hours until it stops, asks you to look up and tell it how it was and all you can say "beautiful, thank you".

Thank you, Kan Gao and Freebird Games, for yet another tearfest of a masterpiece, for showing us the beauty and sadness of life, through a very unique perspective I don't think could work in any other media.

It's the latest installment of Need for Speed but with an actual interesting story that's more grounded than have been before. It's always tough to create a decent story for any kind of driving game, so happy that they have finally seemingly done it.

Driving is arcadey, can feel floaty, but is fun enough to keep you engaged. A normalish upgrade system means you can tweak your car decently enough, although it doesn't get near Gran Turismo's natural feel of choice and feel of car.

I have had fun enough to buy it outside of EA Play.

Early Access Review
Not the most original but a fun spin on the vampire survivor genre with some interesting additions, based on Deep Rock Galactic. I honestly can't wait to see the final result once it leaves early access

In Sound Mind is probably the game of the year for me. A small studio creates something absolutely extraordinary that just works on so many fronts. It takes horror tropes and spins it into originality, telling a story that is both engrossing and somehow super personal.

Plus, talking cat sidekick. We need more games with that.

Please, support them and give it a go. It goes on sale quite a lot and has been free on Epic store.

I would absolutely buy a vinyl of the amazing music as well.

I completed it on another storefront and also bought it here, so I can leave this review. (my achievement is finishing the game, using the save game from that version).

So far feels like a wonderfully written and put together world. The characters feel alive, voice acting is great, it's fun to explore and I have just been having a blast. It reminds me of when I got The Longest Journey, which I pretty much lived and breathed for awhile.

As I dig deeper into this, I see the connections and I am hooked. I know now why the world is so well put together and I am here for it.

Just having a lovely time with this game. Glad it exists.

Edit:

Finished the game and everything above still holds true. It's a wonderful joyride of a roadtrip through an alternative history America, where controlling others became the way to "freedom".

A misfit of characters get together with the common goal of wanting to live in peace and not having to worry that they will eventually get caught by using their "magical" powers.

A heist ends up in a journey of self-discovery, learning to listen to others, showing empathy and growing as a character. It's a game heavily leaning on character development of each character, which just gets me all smiley - I am a sucker for character development in games. Everyone is trying to find their place in the world, including just wanting to be happy and to be themselves.

If you are a fan of adventure games, great worldbuilding and want a hell of a story that keeps on giving, give this one a try.
