This is hands down one of the best games ever created. The world building, scenery, music, story, game mechanics, animations, and general writing all by themselves are worthy of praise but Sandfall Interactive put them all together so beautifully to create a work of art.
Even if one doesn't really enjoy JRPGs or RPGs in general, this is such a compelling game that you shouldn't miss in one way or another.

I'm not quite sure if I want to sue the developer for making me infuriatingly mad for the duration of the game or if this was one of the best games ever played. Probably both. Heck you, Subcreation Studio, you magnificent bastards.

They took the Masterpiece that was Ori and the Blind Forest, added new, fun and intriguing mechanics and created a game that surpasses the first one as a worthy successor.

TL;DR:
+ Story, environment, "fresh" RPG breeze, tactical
- Small improvements, RPG elements cut too short
78/100

Tower of Time is certainly a fresh breeze of air on the RPG genre. It combines the classical RPG and Exploration with a very tactical-based combat system.

You have to think twice on higher difficulties how to set up your party for the encounter and can't just rush in without analyzing the terrain and party abilities beforehand.

Sadly, the RPG elements in my opinion were cut a bit short. The skill tree and stat points (which remind of an ARPG) allow for certain customization, but aside from that there's little to customize your characters with. The equipped items aren't really represented on the character model aside from the weapon. Armor isn't displayed, so you'll get bored pretty quick with the character models.
Aside from the amazing drawn cut-scenes, which have a rich story and great voice acting, the latter part is sadly absent in the rest of the game so far.

The environment is beautifully crafted, and the music and ambient sound is very fitting for the environment. Often I've found myself lost looking at the scene rather than playing the game.

The Interface is a bit clunky at times. There's various quality of life improvements that pop out rather early, for example confirmations when e.g. disenchanting an item or overwriting a save file. But all in all it fits the game.

There's some obvious improvements in terms of bugs (loading sometimes crashes for example), but the game is worth the price tag if you set your expectations to a certain level. The game is not on the level of Pillars of Eternity, Baldur's Gate and the likes, but it's a great entrance into the scene from the publisher.

All in all I can recommend the game and hope future patches will improve the experience more.

Alright game, but I don't think people will play it for hundreds of hours.
