This game is brutual, merciless, and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ beautiful. The graphics are really unique and adorable and the blood is awesome. My thumb is sore from mashing the analog stick trying to clear these levels. It's so much fun but absolutely unforgiving.

Got this game for my partner for Christmas and he was raving about it so much that I decided to get it for myself. I hate this game, I relaly do. I hate coming back to it again and again. You can only get better by practice. You keep playing and playing and unlocking everything. It's so addicting and memorable though and as you can tell by my hours it's got a ton of replay value. They're still adding new stuff to it too and the new patch has had me hooked for the past almost week. Someone help.

***FOR THOSE OF YOU UPSET ABOUT THE AI LAND TAPPING!!! To change how the spell will tap for mana, hover over it in your hand, and PRESS YOUR MANA CYCLING BUTTON. I just found this little treat and it's a lifesaver!***

I've seen a lot of thumbs down for this game and it's pretty resonable. But I'm going to go ahead and put my opinon out here. First and foremost I put 85% of my money into cardboard magic so buying the yearly DotP games for me is just another way to spend the day playing Magic. I can't always get to the cardshop so I'll play some on Steam. It's a pretty lovely thing if you ask me.

Now moving on to the review.

Pros:
-Deck building; I love the customazation in this DotP. I love the ability to filter your search for cards and see more information about your decks. This will definitely help me get better at buidling decks--not a talent of mine.

-In-game UI; the layout when actually battling is gorgeous. The way the characters and health are represented are fantastic. I kinda like the split battle thing, while it can make the game a little laggy. I think they might've done it to symbolize the 'red zone' that some people refer to when attacking. While it could've been done better, it's a pretty nifty idea.

-Large card pool; while there are microtransactions there are still plenty and plenty of cards to choose from as you go through the game. The first plane's booster packs are nothing but skin and bones but as you move along there are more cards in your pack to reward you. By the end of the game--and defeating the expore nodes--you can get 300 something cards. While you do have to buy 14 more packs (for a total of $30) to get the "full" experience, that's still a lot of cards for casual players just looking to get their magic fix.

-Foilstickers!: While yes this is a microtransaction, this is my favorite kind. I spent a few dollars in DotP 2013 foiling out some decks. I like the idea of being able to make SPECIFIC cards foiled if I so desired. I also just like shiny things.

-Eldrazi: Haven't gotten to Zendikar yet but from the videos I've watched there seems to be some of my favorite plane wrecking babies in this game. +1 for annihilator!

-New cards; as a fairly new Magic player--I'm going on my third year of cardboard magic--I love seeing cards I've played with in cardboard magic on my screen. Brimaz, guildgates, artifacts that are in my Ulagmog EDH deck, etc etc. I love the card pool for this game thus far.

-Opening decks; while they are weak, I didn't have a hard time against the AI even on the hardest difficulty. I lost a few times but that's expected, this game is half skill half luck in my opinon. But once you trudge through the first plane you start unlocking cards you can start tweaking the deck to your liking. I also really love being able to pick your opening colors, even if it's multicolored. I feel like it kinda balances out with the weaker cards. I had tons of fun playing a deck with colors I chose from the begininning. Also you still have time to change it before you move on from the tutorial.

Cons:
-Microtransactions; they have collections so you don't have to play the actual story line. Wow. It's actually hilarious when you think about it. There is an option for lazy ♥♥♥♥♥ who don't actually want to play the game. As for the "preminum packs" it's kinda crappy. I would have definitely prefered to have unlocked all the cards instead of having to pay for them.

-Menu; It's awful to navigate with a PC. It seems almost as if it was built for the mobile platform and Wizards was just too lazy to make a different menu for PC. While it definitely looks nice it's clunky to navigate. Although I use the avatar diamond in the lower right hand corner to navigate between the campagin and deckbuilding so I'm not entirely bothered by it. But that being said it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ that I have to use shortcuts to avoid long ass menus.

-Opening decks; as much as the opening decks were nice I disliked having to go multicolored. I would've liked a mono color option as I love playing mono green. Beggars can't be choosers though I suppose.

Note:
-Two Headed Giant; I never liked this format, neither in DotP or in cardboard. It's not there and for those people who are head over heels for it, this might be the reason you don't buy the game. Personally, I don't really care. I don't play multiplayer to win as I'm not competitive, I play it when I'm bored and have nothing better to do.

Overall: Buying this game really depends on how you view the DotP games. It's a matter of personal preference. I wrote this review to enlighten others. While I was browsing through the reviews last night a lot of these reviews seemed to be knee jerk reactions to the game. Hope this was helpul for you. It's not the best DotP game but honestly, they could've done a helluva lot worse. 7.5/10

This game is fantastic. There are a few things that happen that wouldn't happen in IRL Magic--accidently skipping your attack phase or destroying the wrong enchantment--but the game delievers otherwise. As you can maybe tell from my hours I'm addicted to this game. It's fun and I just got a whole bunch of laughs out of seeing how many Chronozoa I could get on the field when facing the Moorland Zombies --how many did I get? Too ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ many.

The multiplayer sucks mostly because of the people. It's a pet peevee of mine when people leave in the beginning of the game because they think I've already won. It's just a personal thing though so I try to stick through the game to the end--and it often results in some suprising results.

Overall it's a great game and allows me to play loads of Magic without dishing out a whole buttload of money.
