But in all seriousness, there is a lot to dislike about this game. But in my opinion, it does have some redeeming qualities. Unfortunately, the negatives outweigh the positives here.

Having an Azur Lane game that does not have any of the gacha aspects is quite interesting. The ability to have characters unlocked throughout the story instead of through random chance is very welcoming to those that want to learn about the different ships. There are also no character rarities. Everyone is equal, so your favorite character is viable throughout the entire game.
Another unique concept that I personally enjoyed is grouping bonuses. When you build your team, you can get bonuses for having matching attributes among them. These can range from having 3+ of the same faction, 3+ with matching hair color, even 3+ with crop tops, booty shorts, even garter belts. This makes building your team that much more interesting.

As fun as it is to blow stuff up, after the 5th mission, nothing new happens. You fight the same enemies, in the same cell by cell battlefield. Each battle lasts for at most 2 minutes. And after the battle, you are flooded with visual novel level amount of dialogue. If that doesn't sound that bad, take into account that there are seven chapters in the main story.

The character models are acceptable, but the amount of bloom that the in-game filter applies makes the game blinding to look at. This filter removes all possible shading that the character models could have and makes them look dreadful.

If I catch wind of a 3D Girls Frontline game in the development, I hope that it doesn't follow in this game's footsteps.

I hate to have to give my favorite Azur Lane waifu a negative, but it is necessary.

One mission in her story is bugged beyond repair. You are unable to damage any enemies while they can damage you.

Because of this bug, you cannot progress in her story. No progress, you cannot get the requirements to oath her.

I WANT TO MARRY FORMIDABLE.

This is a review from someone that has spent well over 250 hours in Artificial Academy 2. I am aware that they are two separate properties, but unfortunately I cannot stop myself from comparing the two.

In AA2, you put 24 students and a teacher into a class. You can play as whoever you want. You can choose to play male/female and student/teacher.  The as the day progresses, characters interact with eachother developing relationships or rivalries. There are even some traits that characters can use to influence the game. "Evil" being the most notable, allowing AI to blackmail, assault, or even kill other character and even the player and it gets even deeper than that. The game continues until you reach one of the endings; Expelled, Killed, Fired, or even the Happy End.

Koikatsu on the other hand railroads you onto a path with one of the few characters that you did not even create. The characters you do create are just there to fill the school and make more alive. Doing things that would punish you in AA2, you get no punishment at all. I will give a back-handed complement here though: The only thing that Koikatsu does better than AA2 is the sex animations. Sadly, the game lacks any lesbian and gay content that was in AA2. Also I would even say that the sex scenes in AA2 where much better in my opinion.

If you want a much better sandbox experience, I would suggest Artificial Academy 2. Sadly AA2 is not compatible with Windows 10, and is no longer for sale. Only way to get it is to torrent it and risk getting a virus, so disregard this.

Now, the part that is without a doubt, the best part of Koikatsu: CharacterStudio. (You do need to install a patch to get this feature.) Take a character you made, and pose it to do whatever you want. Just look at the community tab to see how creative people are with it.

Overall, I only reccomend the game for the CharacterStudio and the great quality sex scenes.

Most games have jiggle physics for just the boobs and butts.
This game has jiggle physics for every single part of their body.

Disclaimer: I have beaten the game twice. Once without the patch and once with the patch.
With the patch installed, this game contains ryona/brutality and lots of other content.
Without the patch, the game is short, and uninspired with nothing worth noting.

Gameplay has several mini-games amongst the combat with guards and half-oni. All of the mini-games are as unique as mini-games can get for something made in RPG Maker.

It isn't the game I wanted, and Sony took out everything Marvelous is known for. (Despite approving TLOU2...)

Regardless, I still enjoy it.
The new cast of characters do have some charm and likability to them, but I prefer the good old girls from Senran Kagura.
Speaking of the SK girls, their models look fantastic and crossing my fingers to see them again.

No intimacy mode tho. Screw you Sony.

The game can be enjoyable. Unfortunately the game is plagued with one of the worst scaling enemy systems I have ever seen. Level 20 me has been unfairly killed by a random scorchbeast spawned in by a level 80+ many times. Intentional or not, this system is basically advertising Fallout 1st's private server function for those who are frustrated with that mechanic.

There is a Battle Royale Mode... nobody cares.

This game has most certainly improved. Just too little, too late.

The Daemonic Soldiers are the best characters.

Don't forget to crack open a cold one with the bois.

Block pushing puzzle game with a limited amount of actions. (Absolutely NO margin for error)
Then switches up to a fast-paced action game using clunky puzzle controls.
Very painful and hard.

But everyone is super cute, music is spectacular.
Thus the positive rating.

"The best Fallout ever" is something that EVERYONE that likes this game says.
