Positives
  • The jukebox thing allows you to play custom music
  • New vehicle that also allows the above feature to play when you're on the road sea
Negatives
  • No seamoth and cyclops
  • The story is kind of meh
  • Shorter/smaller content compared to the first game, same price
Despite the negatives, I still enjoyed my time playing this. Hopefully, the next game can be on par with the first one, or even better. As one of the top Steam reviewers said, if the first game is a 9/10, this one is a point below it.
I bought this game on sale. As of May 1st, 2024, the lowest discount is 67%.

One tip for people who are currently playing or going to play:
At one point, you're going to come across "Preston plant" (the one with a blue/purple fruit). Don't destroy that, as it won't regrow. Instead, take one of its fruits and plant it on your own indoor growbed on your base. I learned it the hard way, and the game didn't inform me of that.

Never mind the minuscule amount of playtime record; I already played this for more than 100 hours, especially when EGS gave this game away for free (some of you might go "ewww" but I honestly dgaf). Bought this game on Steam cuz the version I have doesn't have achievements (ewww sucks) and I like achievements (though it all unlocked once I tried to load my save file from the other version, don't know if that should make me happy or not).

It's one of those games that one should put in their hall of fame, that you can go back to if you feel like it (means it has a great replay value). It's a game where you can experience the potential beauty underwater world, as well as the horror (especially if you have thalassophobia, I have a certain degree of that plus acrophobia as well).

I, without a doubt, wholeheartedly recommend this game. Especially when there is a multiplayer mod out there that could potentially make the game more enjoyable (I do think you need to try it out yourself first, though).

I stumbled upon this game when I still got my N-Gage, loved it, and found this gem on Steam years later. Who doesn't like a little bit of nostalgia every now and then?

Oh, and if you never knew about this game before, don't hesitate to try this. It's an old game, but by no means a bad one. It's fun.

This game is like your usual farming sim (ranching, mining, fishing, socializing, and of course, farming). Though I can see the potential by visiting this game's roadmap. There's also diving, which is probably uncommon in the genre.

What impresses me the most is the Disney-sims-like art style of the characters. Maybe I'm easily impressed, but as long as I enjoyed it, there's no reason not to recommend this game. I also like the music because there's a touch of the music of my people, so it's personally appealing as well.

By the time I wrote this review, there's still a little content, so if you are concerned about that, you can go back later when the game is fully released. I expect great things from this game by then.

*Update Nov 27 2023* There will be more content coming in 2024, just in case you don't like to commit knowing things might change in the future.

You might not be able to relate to this review based on whether or not you tried the demo. For me, by the time I wrote this review, the game ran way better than the demo on my low-end laptop. I'm talking about making the setting as low as possible on the demo version (blurry resolution scaling and all that), but I managed to use one of the presets provided by the game for this one, so it looks good while still running well.

By that example, I'm confident that everything will be improved when the game is fully launched. I know everyone got their own quality standard and expectations for this game, but for me, I'm having fun and pretty satisfied with my purchase.

I spent 867 hours on this single-player game.

Do I have to explain more?

I nominated this game for the "Whoooaaaaaaa, Dude!" Award

Yes, for me, the most awesome things about this game is how it BLOWS MY MIND.

Two things; First, the concept of the game itself, which is about time manipulation, and the consequences of doing that. I believe time itself is already a heavy subject to talk about. When I played this game I was like asking a lot of "How the ♥♥♥♥ did that happened?". A lot of things that happened in this game is still not clear to me until now. I think most people can relate as well. But strangely it doesn't make this game bad. To think about those theories of why things happened in this game excites me. This is the first thing that blows my mind.

Second mind blown came from the story at a certain point of the game. I'm not gonna spoil it here, because that was the time when I experience a real "mind blown" from playing a video game. I think I rarely get that kind of experience, so I don't like spoiling an awesome experience like that.

So to close this review, I wrote this review in regards to the nomination for the Steam Awards. Overall, I enjoyed playing this game, the story, atmosphere, and the great soundtrack combination made it a memorable game. Definitely recommend this (I even promote it to one of my friend, and I rarely did that. She loves it though).

My Score - 9/10
"A mind blowing experience."

Dying Light is like having Dead Island as the main ingredient combine with Far Cry 3 and 2013 Tomb Raider as the supporting ingredients.. If you love those games then this one definitely worth to try.

Old fashioned zombie killing, with modified melee weapons, fight against undead, next level undead, or fellow living human like in dead island? You got it.

Jump around building, Lara Croft style, and find things around you with your survival instinct like in tomb raider (2013)? You got it too.

Collecting ingredients for crafting, various side quests and challenges, unique killing moves like in Far Cry 3? It's right here.

All that plus the two different types of time, day and night, will make your zombie slashing experience more challenging.
