I'm sorry to say it, but we really didn't think it was very good.

The puzzles are really basic, especially if you've played other games in the genre. Many of the puzzles did not utilize the co-op aspect very well and some of them were literally just singleplayer puzzles you likely tried as a kid, like Rush Hour or Picross.

At least we beat it fast enough to be able to refund it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I truly wanted to enjoy this game, but Solasta proved incredibly frustrating to play every step of the way.

The game is buggy, barely works as a co-op experience, the writing is uninteresting at the best of times, and much of the game's design is very tedious. You're constantly interrupted by pointless cutscenes. Stealthing around is janky. The levels and encounter design encourages a very slow and boring style of play.

The only somewhat good thing is the combat, though even this is drowned in uninteresting padding.

My group had hoped that riffing on the game would be enough to carry us through the frustrating bits, but this was not the case. Perhaps it works better as a singleplayer experience, though I would dread the thought of having to deal with this game all by myself.

In summary, Solasta feels like it was made by someone who have read the rules of D&D, but never actually played it. D&D combat is rules-heavy, and so it works when translated into a video game. But for everything else the game completely misses the point, sucking the joy out of what could otherwise have been a fun adventure with friends.

Absolutely amazing game, can definitely recommend playing this with a friend. My only complaint is that the difficulty curve is a bit "jumpy", with some parts being very easy, then suddenly becoming very difficult, at least in my experience playing on Tactician.
