idk how he did it but Elden Ring is now GOTY in both 2022 and 2024

this dlc honestly completely changed my mind on this one, it is a tighter, more thoughtful version of the base game with better zones, better bosses, and it's probably the most visually gorgeous game ever released. It is a more concentrated form of the base game and it turns out that makes all the difference. miyazaki simply does not miss.

also on people complaining about the bosses being too hard: if you've played fromsoft dlc before you know what to expect, and frankly this is much easier than most dlc we usually get from them, the last boss is of course crazy but you would be disappointed if it wasnt

Well, there was this doom clone, more aptly described as a visual novel with shooting, and I see, well, I was swinging down the level on my way to a terminal and this guy, yeah. He was about six foot eight and huge. He was holding this pfhor staff, only to me, I would describe it as a lightsaber, something from Return of the Jedi. Before he can even open his three eyes, he collapses. Meanwhile, I can barely lift a finger to put the shotgun to his glossy head because I'm shaking so much.

He was vomiting and I knew that he was alive because he kept saying something like 'when is marathon getting ported to PS5' between convulsions. What happened next was really bizarre. Both ends of the ship flood with black-suited men, just like in Mararthon 4.

Genuinely one of the best FPS series ever made. Dripping with atmosphere and a *hard* sci-fi style with phenomenal writing and concepts. Both Halo and Destiny directly reference and expand upon many concepts that all start here.

But since it's old, you might be a bit put off at first. Try this: use Basic HUD (found in graphics settings), and set your Advanced Mouse settings to Modern/Raw Input/.097 for both sliders (doesn't need to be exact). The actual gameplay of Marathon is actually quite modern imo, the flow is excellent and there's lots of bold ideas that work surprisingly well for 1994.

Anyway, it's free so why not try it. If you're a big Bungie fan or just a fan of boomer shooters and atmospheric sci-fi, this game is certainly worth playing. Oh and don't get too excited about multiplayer, proper multiplayer is in Marathon 3 so just wait for that.

nearly as good as dark souls 1 and absolutely the best bosses in the souls series and its not even close, sully and dancer are immaculate, abyss watchers are an absolute blast, irythill is the most gorgeous zone from has ever made and the gameplay is snappy and flashy. got banned because I used a boss rush mod but it was totally worth it

its cool

i really dont understand how to play this one yet but its definitely a game where you zoom around and blow ♥♥♥♥ up

I will say this one didnt grab me the way previous from games did but this game is structured totally differently, its more short chunks of gameplay rather than a 100 hour adventure

first playthrough was probably the best experience since dark souls 1 but jesus h chrimst is this game frustrating once the joy of discovery wears off:

-very bad leveling/weapon upgrade progression
-frustrating difficulty curve where most things are shockingly easy then huge difficulty spikes just appear out of nowhere
-an open world filled with mostly forgettable encounters and exploration that becomes quite the chore once you've figured out the pattern

it really doesnt help that the game looks and feels just like dark souls 3 but the way you fight bosses is completely different.

still its about 1000x better than most other open world games and it's one of the most polished and vast games on the market. its totally gorgeous and has probably the most flexible and varied combat system ever. the lore/story is a bit too similar to other fromsoft settings but still pretty great. just a lot of extremely questionable design choices especially since its the very next release after sekiro which is about as perfect as one of these games can get with strokes of absolute brilliance in nearly every gameplay decision. elden ring is just every fromsoft idea dumped into one game, so its a mess but most of fromsoft's ideas are incredible so its an incredible mess.

buy it just know that its fromsoft soup

time for soup

The best combat system in any game period. Nothing is tighter, nothing is as elegantly simple. Every element is designed perfectly with your toolkit in mind. Whereas in souls games, you have options on how to overcome a challenge, Sekiro demands perfection, for there are almost no additional options. You MUST learn enemy combos, you MUST learn parry timing windows, you MUST accurately counter. Because of this, a lot of people feel this is the hardest Fromsoft game, but the thing is that you *can* learn all of it. It's not difficult to do all of these things, it's not even that difficult to do it all perfectly, it's an extremely fair game and you have total control, but it will absolutely punish you for making mistakes.

If you like having to learn enemy movement patterns and boss fights, this is the game for you. There is none better.

Totally outstanding soundtrack, worth it for The Boy Calls and Night Whispers alone. Between this and Patricio's work on some of the other recent ACE games like The Eternal Cylinder and Abyss Odyssey, he's easily made his way into my top 5 game composers. I'll be buying anything with his name attached to it after this one.

if I had to list a few of my favorite tracks hmm id probably say something like
