Friendly community! Everyone is very helpful. There's a lot to do and the scripting with Logix opens up infinite possibilities!

Very easy to make your own content. You do not need unity. You can completely bypass Unity and make everything from within Neos itself.

I entered Neos to immerse myself as a character and got a lot of positive interaction even without using voice.

The community is primarily comprised of adults, and that is quite comforting to me.

Overall probably the best experience I had in a VR world. 11/10 would recommend.

Within only 10 minutes of playing, I can absolutely recommend this game to people who just want to create stuff! The best part is that this project will be open source on release so people can take the project further. for 99 cents, this is an absolute steal and it's essentially a miniature spore clone that has multiplayer. It's really easy to figure out the controls without needing to go to the menu. Parts have been made by more than one person (Yay community content!) and I hope to be able to submit my own parts as well. Overall what started as a simple "what if" concept on Youtube has become something that has the potential to become a fully fledged game. It's simply a crazy work of art!

This is by far the most immersive and beautiful game of the genre i have seen so far. The scenery levels are amazing and the cars are customizable! The Controls are so easy, that you already know what to do as soon as you start your first game. There is no tutorial needed.

The best part is you can use your own music. I am a musician and I play my own musical creations with this game to relax. It is enough to put people in a calm trance. I have the game here and on my android phone. It is amazing. I haven't been able to play any other games similar to music racer since.

This is Beasts of Bermuda.

~~~~~~~Let me start off by saying I have been with the Beasts of Bermuda community for almost three years now, back before it was released on Steam, and that my time spent with the community will not affect my review due to bias.~~~~~~~
Beasts of Bermuda is a Dinosaur survival simulator, but it is so much more than that. There are many features and mechanics so lovingly poured into the game that it can keep you hooked for hours. The lead developer of the game started this as a hobby project, and now this game is his full-time job. All the little details put into the game, even UI enhancements, and little hotfix patches are exciting and even entertaining! I will go over the most key features about Beasts of Bermuda in this review below.
THE PROS:
The Community: Beasts of Bermuda has by far the most laid back, non-toxic, friendly community of any game of this genre and similar genres. It is a small community that is tight knit and bonded together by memes and silly inside jokes. The community in the game's servers can be different, but overall the community is amazing and very welcoming. They always want to help a new member, always politely, and aside from the chaotic memes, the BoB community is arguably the most peaceful game community I have come across so far.
Customization: Where to begin with customization? it is stunning! I have not seen another survival game tackle character creation in quite a way that BoB does it. You can choose your player dino species, and there are a lot. There's even marine reptiles and flying reptiles to choose from! You are put directly into a preview of your character, and you can choose a pattern for your dino's skin, and change every color for every marking on it, even change opacity! You may even select your character's sex if you want, or go random. There is a handy lighting tool to help you preview your character's skin in fine detail for all the times of day, making sure your character is perfect.
The World: Beasts of bermuda may not have the most detailed, hyper-realistic graphics in all the land, but that is just the BoB style, and personally I find it quite charming, and maybe even cute, while still being real enough to immerse yourself as your character, and believe you are right there on the islands of bermuda. The shaders are amazing and the models are well done and gorgeously animated, and are frequently getting updates and touch-ups to look even better, and the community can voice in their opinions as well, to determine what should be in the game.
Mechanics: From dynamic weather, including floods, rain, storms, and even tornadoes! to Nesting, skin-mixing, comfort and talents. Beasts of Bermuda has the most diverse mechanics of any dino game I have played so far. These mechanics help keep the game interesting for playing long sessions, so there is rarely a time you will be sitting around doing nothing in boredom! Brace yourselves for a terrifying storm, one that might even require mass migration to higher altitudes, Build your dinosaur to be fast, strong, or hardy! Find a mate, have some ADORABLE babies. They will often look like a mix of both parents, and they could be even better than both parents, by inheriting talents that the parents spent points in. Even simple mechanics like flying and swimming have been made immersive and enjoyable for many hours on end, and there's so many possibilities for what specialization a player might pick. You can be an egg stealing velociraptor, or a pteranodon that takes off as fast as a jet airplane, or a marine reptile that specializes in stealth for ambushing its prey. Most of the mechanics rely on RNG too. It's amazing!
EARLY ACCESS: Yes this game is early access, but I believe that it is a pro! The game is constantly changing and improving, so there's always going to be something new and exciting to board the hype train! There will also be many many many many bugs squashed during this time. It's a bug graveyard out there already! The game is only getting better!
THE CONS:
Yes there are still a few cons, but I will still list them for anyone who still isn't sure whether to buy the game now or wait.
Low population: Beasts of Bermuda does not have as large a community as other games like the Isle and other dinosaur games, so there will be a lot of empty servers lying around in the server list. It's just that not very many people out there have heard of this game, and lack of knowledge and advertisement is where this game might fall short. Though with enough content like shimmer event videos, the population of these islands of Bermuda will soar!
Multiplayer only: I list multiplayer only as being a con because some people might not be comfortable in a fast paced, multiplayer environment. I am this way. People with high anxiety or are prone to stress might want to stick to servers labeled "Chill". Some people might just want to play to hang out and show their skins, and that is fine, the game can be played many ways, and as a person who prefers chill servers myself, it is an ideal setting for those people who might not be able to handle PvP and constant fear of combat in regular servers.
Bugs! Bugs! Where are all these bugs coming from?: As with any early access game, you are signing yourself up for bugs and unfinished features!!! They will pop up at any time after any patch! They may come from minor glitches to client crashes, but that is what happens with an early access game. and also with early access games, it is the players' responsibility to find these bugs and notify the dev team. There has never been a game that has started 100% bug free!
OVERALL:
TL;DR, yes, a lot of people don't like reading. I completely understand. I will give an overall summary of the things stated above here..
Beasts of Bermuda is the most diversified dinosaur game feature and mechanic-wise. There is so much to do that you'll rarely get bored. It is a small community that is very friendly.
I 100% Recommend this game to anyone, especially if it is their first dino survival game. This should be the first thing people try out when they want to try the dinosaur survival game genre.
This game has good potential. I have watched the development of Cereal Soup before it ever came out on steam. Before the Canis and the Felis were even added. I have not played that much but from what I have experienced, I can conclude that I do recommend the game. Here are my points.
Pros:
  • Small, Friendly Community (always a selling point for me)
  • Unique Character customization options
  • Suggestions are taken
  • It's a FREE GAME!
  • Development and updates are faster than what other games put out
  • Bugs do get noticed and removed. Except for the ones you can eat!
  • Is it a cereal or soup? Either way it's a good game.
  • Everything can be earned without premium, even preset slots, by winning contests and events!
Cons:
  • Gameplay gets boring after several minutes in game. It is best played with lots of breaks.
  • There are some major bugs, though this is an early access game. It's a given.
  • Inactivity is common. There will be waves of no users online at times.
