I absolutely adore this game. As a fan of the more in depth colony management games(Not just making a food number grow bigger so your people don't starve lol) I can genuinely recommend this game. Though with a few minor caveats.
- First and foremost, Early access, this means many things to many people, figure out what it means to you because this game is buggy, unbalanced, and frustrating at times.
- Crew combat feels lacking, a lot of times I feel like a boarding battle is won by just parking my crew next to my only airlock. Designing my ship feels a bit less creative as you want your crew to be able to cover all your docks(Which you will probably build several to compensate for the slow logistic movement til you get bots). Trying to board an enemy crew is practically suicide and sometimes wrecks are absolute death traps unless you cheese them.
- Food production is rough, I don't understand it, and I want to so bad. In other colony sims its simple, number goes up = good, number hits 0 = BAD. Nutrition is a key part of your crew's health and will affect their mood and health as certain parts of their nutrition are unfulfilled. It is SO hard to figure out what exactly is causing the consumption to rise/fall. I wish there were statistic trackers or a more in depth explanation of how much of each type of ingredient is consumed per meal, per person but there is nothing in game and the wikis i have found are bare-bones.

Overall still a recommend from me. This game is unique, it has flavor, and its an indie company who are actively supporting and developing the game years after. Early access might drive some off but if you can find it on sale, you'll definitely get your hours worth like i did.

I have mixed thoughts about this game, but before I lose you and make you hate this game off of my "mixed" opinion let me clarify, it is rather nitpicky than actual core game issues. So lets begin with that.

My Nitpicks
-------------------
Animations feel clunky
No real benefit from unit diversity.
Patient Zero(The spreader of the infection, and win condition) can sometimes sneak up on unprepared first players. I should have lost my first playthrough but I started a new one as I was still learning

Regardless of the nitpicks there are still quite a few pro's and cons

Pros
-------------------------
Captures the feel of a infection response team in a zombie apocalypse environment very well.
Citizen evacuation is an option as well as euthanization, giving a opportunity to manage and control the infection spread indirectly through the civilians
The radio system, some units can play custom tracks and the community has taken it upon themselves to provide RP dialogue which is really great for immersion. I however like having my drop choppers play fortunate son as I ride for hell.
Various options hidden options to also combat the infection(like blowing up the mainland bridges, had to find that out from the discord)

With it comes, it's cons, these are detrimental aspects that hurt the user experience, most are being addressed.

Cons
------------------------
No real tutorial, the wiki is bare bones too. The slide show in the beginning barely offers enough info or insight in the beginning, naturally I went to search for a wiki and it too is lacking.
Unit pathfinding kind of sucks. This requires an incredible amount of micromanaging and flying units(Like the shawnee attack chopper) when grouped will fly somewhere else once they have reached their target destination, probably related to the pathfinding.
A very mediocre gameplay loop, it can be boring once you understand what is necessary to win, the community has developed cheese strats to beat the game as early as day 2.

I don't dislike this game, but I dont love it. It has issues but the main saving grace I have is that the developers are communicative and working to make a beautiful gaemplay experience. Their monetization method is through skin packs which I can appreciate because lord knows we dont need another battle pass(especially for a game like this) Updates are frequent and sizable, but some of the changes(Like the upcoming UI update) feel a bit ill-prioritized in favor of the other issues I listed(even my nitpicks feel like they should be more pressing xD) but for atmosphere alone, something about this game just captivates me.

I have a problem with this game. I just want to start by saying I love this game. Its like crack to me. I've become so absorbed with the killer and survivor gameplay because they're both so enjoyable for me and I have equal fun on each but I feel like this community will be the death of this game. Every player I come across acts so entitled to a win like they forget every player is just trying to have their own fun and enjoy the game too. Theres many aspects to the game to learn, the loops, the perks, the maps(and their variants), and it can all be daunting to new players. However the players who have 1k+ hours all seem to cry the most. I've bullied killers on survivor side, rolled survivors on killer, and all the time people cry about nerf this nerf that that half of them have never even thought to acknowledge maybe they're not as good as they think they are. Its a fun game to play, and to get to know and love but do steer clear of the post game chat 9/10 times, they're usually just mad they lost or some stupid ♥♥♥♥ lol

Oh my baby, my sweet child. If you want to get into a Paradox grand strategy game this is the one. Sadly with most of the content being locked behind DLC you have to spend a pretty penny to get the full experience. However there is not a single other strategy game I would place as high as this game. For there is not a single other game where I can buy a species out of existence. Imagine balancing your economy.
