I have to recommend this game, from what i've played it is a great Souls-like. it could live up to Lies of P levels, However. This game was advertised as anything but a souls like. God Of War with souls elements, i.e bonfires, estus flask etc. This game is a Souls-Like down to its core. The Difficulty is exactly as you'd expect from a Souls game. The level design is akin to Demon's Souls with a few checkpoints throughout a shorter level which expands after a main boss. The Bosses are way too frequent they got rid of exploration and detailed branching paths in levels to have each level a boss rush. 3 to 4 mini bosses before a main boss. They reused one of the first bosses within 4 hours of gametime.

After all that negativity I need to praise it. The combat is so fluid and works so well with the bosses and it feels like the other side of the coin for Sekiro. Perfect Dodges instead of parries, the focus bar to deal devastating attacks instead of breaking posture. The deflections are reserved for projectiles and it all flows so nicely. The Tiger Vanguard has been kicking my ass for around 3 hours I nearly have him down and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that bossfight is a masterpiece, it flows perfectly like a dance, incredibly similar to a souls boss and it just works.

If you like souls games with difficult bosses. Pick it up, if you're expecting a game similar to God of War 2018/Ragnarok I would avoid it.

Reviews were flat out wrong it is a great souls game, and has barely any similarities to GoW if any.

Would recommend to souls fans.

Shadow of the Erdtree isn't perfect but Miyazaki COOKED so hard. When Elden Ring came out, you had all the "souls veterans" crying about how it was too easy and being toxic saying "git gud" to new players who hadn't played the previous games. Now Miyazaki made the DLC more difficult so you'd think that they'd be happy right ? Yeah ♥♥♥♥ no as usual they're trying to find the most meaningless stuff to complain about. Scadutree Fragments work and people mainly these "souls vets" are trying to say they don't but I can guarentee if you go to the final boss of the DLC with 0 fragments you'd be one tapped, whereas with 13 ish its around Malenia difficulty.

The DLC itself is really good, there's some issues which others have pointed out which I agree with, reusing bosses from the base game is a bit stupid really, however the sheer amount of new content is good enough to balance it out for me. Stuttering is there mainly due to the amount of effects/particles flying around. Will 100% get patched soon.
The new weapons are amazing, some of the best Fromsoft have ever created maybe apart from Bloodborne's Trick Weapons.

The Boss Fights are phenomenal, people are struggling with the first two raging because they "should be over levelled for the DLC" when Miyazaki literally said that nobody will be able to rune farm to get an advantage in the DLC so I really don't understand the shock there, but for these people to then go and say "it's not balanced properly" is really dumb and should either find the very easy to find Scadutree fragments (I beat the DLC with Lvl 13 on NG+3) or simply play better because leaving a negative review over struggling to a boss is exactly what all you "souls vets" flamed reviewers for back when the game launched telling them to "git gud"

The DLC is great has some performance issues but nothing that is unplayable or wont get fixed soon. If you liked Elden Ring and want a challenge get it. If you want to have a challenging DLC 100% get it. If you'd rather not have a challenging time don't bother because Miyazaki said it'd be hard, now it's hard people leave negative reviews.

The new content is amazing and challenging.

Another masterpiece from Miyazaki the combat in this game is perfect. Simple as that there isn't a flaw with the combat. The only real issues with the game is the lack of replay ability and lack of weapon variety (there's literally one usable weapon) But for a first playthrough it is amazing definitely recommend but unlike other souls games focus on parrying that isn't an understatement it's similar to a rhythm game with the bosses pasterns. Learn the "beats" and the game is much more fun.

Genuinely a masterpiece if you can get used to the clunky combat that is. The gameplay is nowhere near as refined as Elden Ring for example so definitely play this as soon as possible just so it's not jarring going back to it. The world is perfect most bosses are amazing. Until the final like quarter. Bed of Chaos is one of the worst bosses in gaming history. The final sections are kind of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ until the final boss where they salvage it. Gywn is one of the best final bosses just for his story significance gameplay isn't anything special but the lore behind it is so good and honestly kind of sad. Perfect end to the game. Makes Dark Souls 3's final boss even better. Near perfect game until the final quarter. Definitely recommend

Truly a masterpiece of a game, imo second best Dark Souls game, only because Dark Souls 1 has a crazy immersive world. The boss fights in this game are perfection especially the final boss no spoilers but this game works so much better after playing Dark Souls 1 in my opinion Dark Souls 2 is definitely optional just doesn't have as strong connections and isn't as good imo. But definitely the perfect ending to the Dark Souls franchise.

Honestly the worst triple A game i've ever played it does nothing good and is a terrible excuse for a cash grab. Wasn't that excited pre launch so expectations were low it released and they somehow got worse the more i played. Companions ♥♥♥♥♥ at you for killing ? and leave you for killing its such a tedious mechanic that puts you off a morally grey or evil character as you can't have a companion. Character Creator was pretty good though.

Mid asf not the masterpiece people say it is, might have been good at the time it released but it really doesn't hold up well today personally only enjoyed one quest being the civil war quest. was told I did the "wrong" quests which i found quite funny there shouldn't be wrong quests in a game lmao mid game only get on sale imo.
