Never buy a game where most of the reviews have not reviewed any other game, fellas. And always test a game right away after buying it, so you don't end up with a lemon in your library after forgetting about it. Heck, this would have been clear from the outset if I had paid attention to the trailer, but that's my mistake.

This game plays like a brick. What the other guy said about the interact button not working is true, the platforming is loose, and the combat amounts to a singular sword swing with 2 frames of animation with a deceptively small hitbox against deceptively large enemy collision hitboxes. Not to mention an agonizing movement speed supposedly offset by a sprint that rapidly consumes a very slowly replenishing stamina meter.

To be honest the biggest thing I was owned by (which, again, I could have avoided if I had paid more attention) was that I thought the cool martial artist dude and his cat featured on the promo art were the main character. This is not the case. I have no idea who that dude is or if he or the cat are even in the game. Why is he on the box?

So whatever. I couldn't tolerate it for ten minutes. Ignore.

When I finished one playthrough of this I would have recommended it as an interesting experience, though I had my reservations.

Finishing the "true" ending discarded any pleasant thoughts I had about the game. They could have said "rocks fall, everyone dies" and it would have soiled the journey less.

They could have at least made the credits fast-forwardable on successive playthroughs.

This game gets held up as a storyline of how to redeem a bad launch by continuing to support it, but those years of content drip have still never made it stop feeling wide as an ocean deep as a puddle. I still play it now and then, but it never leaves me feeling satisfied. I normally don't have strong feelings about this, but this time they've set me off.

This newest update they put out, they finally implemented ship customization, after eight years of the only way to get a nice looking ship being to hope you randomly get one you like. This is a big glowing headlining feature they're really proud of and have plastered everywhere.
Except it sucks.
The way you "customize" a ship is to first find or buy ships and salvage them, which lets you make a new ship out of the parts they were made of. That sounds agreeable enough, except that in literally any other game I've ever seen or played that has done something like this, those parts are permanently granted to you in a list you can freely choose from.
Not so here. Each salvaged ship's parts - which you can only pick one of (wings, cockpit, or engines) per craft - are physically granted to you in your inventory, which must be brought to the ship terminal and manually used and consumed to build the new ship, plus a core purchased for nanites to determine its class. It also can only be used on three of the eight ship types, which excludes all the useful ones. And again, since the parts are all consumed on use, if you got a bad roll on ship stats within that class, well, tough luck. "oh well if they weren't consumed you could rebuild them infinitely until you got optimal stats" They are consumed so they should give optimal stats anyway, give me a break. And if they weren't consumed, they could simply, I don't know... make the process cost money instead? There's a thought.
It's complete nonsense. I don't understand at all why they would go out of their way to make a worse system than the industry standard and act like they're finally giving the fans what they want. I'd sooner use the long-standing exploits to get one of the custom ships from older expeditions than participate in this absurd time-waster in a game full of time-wasters.

It's also really dull for a shooter and the announcers are really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying and unfunny.

I waited until release hoping this would actually get players when it came out only to realize it's actually kind of boring and shallow, with a lot of design aspects I don't really like.
No voice chat. Customization is locked in levelup crates. Leveling is immensely slow, even on winning. Of the matches I've played so far, each has turned into an unending slugfest of maxed out ships with more players per team and resources stored than would ever be needed to sustain them, only put to rest by the zone completely collapsing. I haven't seen a cork get popped yet because it takes so long that there's no shot enough enemy players stay dead long enough to finish it. Most people don't seem to pay attention to the sails at all, so usually ships fly past each other at full sail. Melee is unrewarding when people can stock hundreds of bullets for their automatics and shotguns. Hold to interact everywhere.

Worst of all, this game doesn't stop running when you exit it. Come on, dude.

It's all the parts of Sekiro I like without any of the parts I don't like.
All human bosses, very readable peril attacks, no magic unblockables, no status effects. No complications with tools or items. Just very straightforward parry, counter, dodge until success.
And, even better, bnuuy.

I could care less if it's a straight-up unrepentant knockoff, we have thousands of so-called soulslikes. Let's get more stuff like this. This is fun.
