Worth it if you are a DC fan or fan of the Arkham games. Otherwise, wait for a sale. There's a ton of content here, but some strange design choices and random issues bog it down.

Early Access Review
In Golf With Your Friends you and some other people hit a ball/cube/puck around mini-golf courses with fantasy elements thrown in. Sometimes the ball can jump.

Everybody has "that game", a game that pisses them off every time they play it.

Everybody.

A perfect game for a chill evening. Grab a couple controllers, load up your best playlist, turn the lights down, and enjoy the vibes. It's also cheaper than Audiosurf.

Pros
-amazing visual effects
-progression system
-plenty of adjustable options
-cheap

Cons
-limited online multiplayer
-clunky UI

The price point is too high, but this game does a great job of recreating the tense, twitchy situations of Zombie Panic. The atmosphere and sound is good at setting the dark tone, and the combat takes a more realistic approach, requiring precise aim and manual reloading. Playing a survivor is fun: scavenging for weapons, barricading a house, avoiding the undead and taking a few of them out silently, then sneaking up on a fellow survivor and executing them for their sniper rifle and vantage point is satisfying. Playing as a zombie is frustrating, but it is about as good as it can be. Player zombies have slightly better manueverability and the ability control the horde.

There are three main modes: extraction, escape, and hunted. Hunted is the true gem. It is a PvP game mode where everyone starts off in a random spot with a few supplies, and the only rule is to be the last one left alive. I always try to forge an uneasy alliance with whoever is around me early on, each of us knowing that if things go our way then eventually one of us has to die. Large gunfights attract zombies, and any players who die become a fresh walker ready to head straight back for the camping point they just died at. It can get very tense, especially while hiding in a closet with a revolver pointed at the door while gunshots, broken windows and screams echo around you.

Extraction is a co-op mode has you going from house to house and searching for survivors, then fending off waves of zombies as you lead them to safety. It's fun and challenging because each person is limited in what they can carry and do. If a person is barricading they cannot shoot, and it is useless to have a sniper and shotgun at the same time. The AI survivors however, are useless and will die without protection, even with a gun. The maps also last way too long, and most people will not make it to the end.

Escape is an objective based co-op mode that isn't really all that enjoyable. As you work your way through various obstacles and puzzles, anyone who dies becomes a zombie. In the beginning it is too easy as there are only a few zombies to deal with. The difficulty either stays that way because everyone works together, or it falls apart because too many people die and overwhelm the survivors. The puzzles are okay but using a smart phone to check objectives and locations of keys isn't really that fun.

This game with a tiny budget manages to be closer to the original vision of dungeon delving and booty collecting with friends than Diablo III could ever be. A ton of unique content in the game, even if the story is complete jabber wonky. You can easily get lost tuning your stats and skills to get the best combination, or just trying to clear one more floor. With mods adding custom classes, dungeons, and even raid bosses, the fun never ends. And you don't even need an internet connection.

That's right, you can play on LAN. Next-gen.

This game has enough depth to each map and gametype, that the progression and overall development are a great background to the tight shooting and co op mechanics.
