Half of the time you'll spend searching and backtracking for keycards, but it's still a fun game. Worth it for the dark atmosphere and moody soundtrack.

For maybe the 3rd visual novel I've ever read, this was well worth the read. I could've payed $10 had I known what I was getting myself into. For the most part, it's a slice-of-life starring three criminally-cute animalistic women and former college kid, now convenience store owner Lin Yang (generic MC #457). Ok, Lin's a fine character sure, but you buy the game for the girls on the cover anyway. Throughout the game, you get to uncover the little mystery behind the girls' sudden appearance while they grow accustomed to modern civilization. This goes on for about 5-8 hours (9 for me since I'm somewhat of an imbecile). There's probably more to it, but that's the gist of the plot.

For a "joke" that I bought when it was on sale for a dollar, I'm pleasantly surprised at the quality and effort crammed into the final product. Grammar mistakes do appear from time to time for English readers, but are easy to make out. There are also times where Cherry will look to the side when someone else is talking and it looks as if she's cross-eyed. And the way that the three of them eat food kind of...disturbs me for some reason.

I highly recommend this game/novel for its characters and CG artwork and at the asking price of $2, what's not to love? Oh yeah, don't tell anyone I actually enjoyed this or they'll probably beat me up.

Finally, a pure and true avant-garde masterpiece reborn once again for modern software. An on-rails shooter that fuses navigation and simple puzzles (à la Resident Evil) with a surrealist plot that has actual depth and meaning. Think Trout Mask Replica, but as a video game. Peak creativity made sincerely by Japan right here. One of the greats. Bless Suda.
