It pains me to give this DLC a bad review due to how much I love Teardown, especially since I did actually enjoy my time with it, but I think that so far, both paid DLCs have suffered from the same issue: Their difficulty is far too low.

The beginning was actually quite promising. You start by participating in a race before getting a message about a mission you are supposed to do. The mission was quite easy, but it served as an introductory mission so that’s fine. I was expecting that more missions would follow and that the DLC would ultimately be a blend between going on missions and participating in races.

Well, unfortunately, it turns out that there were only very few missions and all of them were incredibly easy to complete. The races themselves were fine difficulty-wise, but I don’t think they should have been the focus of this DLC, given that Teardown isn’t really built to be a racing game, and the races did feel a little gimmicky at times.

Frankly, I am leaving this review not to discourage anybody from buying the DLC, but as feedback to Tuxedo Labs. Teardown is at its best when its missions are difficult enough that you need to find creative ways to solve them. The feeling of finally beating a mission that seemed impossible at first is honestly unmatched. My favorite mission in Teardown was the second-to-last one in the Arts Vandals expansion, which indeed forced me to think out of the box and make full use of the tools and resources at my disposal. The base game also had a fair share of similar missions, particularly those that took place on the Villa Gordon map. The Time Campers DLC, however, had no such missions, and neither does the Folkrace DLC.

I really hope the next DLC will ramp up the challenge a little and provide some quality missions since I really do feel a little let down by those we’ve gotten so far, despite liking all other aspects (the music, level design, atmosphere, world-building, etc.) of them.

I’d like to give this game a massive thumbs up!

In fact, I’d like to compare this game to Portal. Just like Portal, it offers innovative gameplay that is different from what most people have played before, wrapped in great level and sound design which helps create a great atmosphere.

Driving vehicles around is also so much fun that I’d drive around Gordon’s race track just for fun.

My only criticism is that some levels are simply too easy. The game is at its best when you spend a little over an hour planning your perfect heist before finally pulling off what seemed impossible at first. However, only a handful of levels (such as the “Fine Arts” one or the (I believe) second to last one in the Art Vandals expansion) reach that level.

I hope the upcoming DLCs will have some more challenging levels, though.

I have once seen this game on Desura, and I played the Demo, however I was unable to buy the full version so a member of the developer's family who's nickname was Claggy gave it to me for free. I played the game for quite a while, but today I saw that it has just come out on Steam, so I bought it instantly. Procyon is a very nicely polished game, with pretty visuals and some really nice gameplay, especially on higher difficulty levels. The story is also quite entertaining, as you will figure out just after watching the first scene. In Procyon there is a wide variety of different enemies, all with their very own way of attacking you, aswell as a boss at the end of every level. Of course the boss is also different depending on the level, so gameplay is not repetitive and the pretty nice soundtrack adds a good layer of extra polishment to the game. I do definitely recommend it, at least to everybody who either likes this genre, or to people who just really enjoy funny cutscenes. :)

13,99€ seem a little bit steep for a normal map generator, but I don't regret my purchase. The software does exactly what's on the box and the 3D view makes working with it fast and easy. I'm sure that many 3D game developers would find a use in this software and even 2D game developers might like to check it out, as normal mapping is just as possible in 2D games. I know that there are plenty of free alternatives, however none of those that I have seen offer the same amount of features, nor a 3D view, so I bought it quickly while it was 20% off.

Also, for those saying that it might be hard to use:
It's not. At least not if you know what a normal map is. :) I have never used a normal map generator before, yet I could get some satisfying results in no time. I'm sure I will use this software in at least one of my future projects, as normal maps really improve graphics for 3D and 2D games and such. I recommend MindTex to anybody who works with normal maps or plans to do so in future (like I do).
