Just as God made life to reproduce itself, so he has made the universe to express itself, to bring forth its own structure and order in ever richer forms, and in that way to find its fulfilment as the creation of God. This is what takes place through man, for man is that unique element in the creation through which the universe knows itself and unfolds its inner rationality.
