(note from the future: i dont like this review anymore. so tl;dr: demoncrawl = minesweeper + roguelike + rpg. if you like any of those, buy the game.)

I've just completed the game on normal mode (yeah I know there's a lot more but I wanted to make a review now), and hoo boy this is a good game.
It's minesweeper mashed up with a roguelike! You've got health! items! money! npcs! not to mention all the mechanics that were made specifically for this game such as powerchording, gleaning, and pathfinding!
There is a suprising amount of content here and its well worth the $15 price tag, and there's even more than what I saw, including item crafting!
Not to mention this minesweeper game has a story.
That's right, this MINESWEEPER game has a story.
And I couldn't be happier.
They don't give you the full story up front, just little snippets, so this is more of my loose understanding/theory of the story:
After you complete the last quest on normal mode, text appears onscreen that says: "TIME TO WAKE UP". After the text fades into the background, you are dropped into a new level that at first glance looks bland, almost barren, being almost completely black & white with static appearing every once in a while, and when the title of the level appears it says "October 4th, (5th? 6th? I forget.) 1990". After clicking the first tile and beginning the level, if you've played the *ahem* "source material" you might recognize it as the original minesweeper graphics/grid but in the Demoncrawl style. after halfway completing it the stage fades out and what replaces it is an honestly pretty f***ing creepy picture of a human/humanoid with those creepy 1-pixel white pupils surrounded by strings of numbers, both completely red. After a bit of waiting, the picture fades out, and a (fake) error message pops up saying "your software has expired" (or something like that) accompanied with an error sound, then a few more appear with their own error sounds, some glitchy effects, then credits.
So, my personal theory (so far) is that we are a person playing minesweeper in October 1990 and imagining all of the other stuff. The "TIME TO WAKE UP" message could be saying "You've been playing minesweeper for way too long, you need to get up." but idk. The descriptions of the last 2 quests reinforces this theory, as at the beginning the descriptions are just "You're the kings ...blah blah... you need to deliver a letter... etc." but the 4th one says this "Know this my friend: the machine is real it powers our world... etc." and the 5th one completely addresses your character or potentially... you, saying things like "Are you sure you want to do this", "Not many have seen behind the curtain" etc.

So those were my thoughts on DemonCrawl (so far).
In summary: buy it, it's a good game well worth the price.

Dicey Dungeons is a rogue-lite game where you roll dice to attack.

That's it.

Sidenote: I see people complaining that there's too much RNG, you are literally a walking die, I thought RNG would be a given.

It might be due to my computer, but i find the game runs extremely slowly, like, 5-10 fps, (and yes, i set all the graphics settings to the lowest they can go) and an error message comes up occasionally saying "One or more players have disconnected. Please, start game again." and softlocks me.

Ps: A bit of a nitpick, but can you please save my settings preferences?

Cool game, can't say much more than that without spoiling it. :)

Sidenote: Why is "Meta" not a legitimate tag?
