I like the visuals. I like the pacing. The story is a story. The combat is satisfying. Sounds and music fit the atmosphere of the game. Overall a solid recommend. It definitely feels like a US$15 game, and if you get it on sale, you got it for a steal.

Grand adventure. Magic. Monsters. Dungeons. If you like any of these things, then you will have a good time here. And if you are torn between this one, and the first title, don't worry. Get them both!

Do you like adventure? Do you like killing hordes of monsters? Do you like leveling up your character? Well, this is the game for you. Worth every cent. And if you are torn between this one and the sequel, get both. They have a slight bit of difference in their styles and mechanics that its just worth it.

Let's be real...this was released just so they could recoup some of the investment. There is so much wrong here. Missing assets that don't load, or are entirely missing. Uninspired enemies (the "mutants" look more like aliens, and feel like a bullet sponge one moment, and a one shot kill the next). Environments are nice looking, but barely any interaction with what is inside of them. The Unreal 5.5 engine is honestly unimpressive here. There are nearly zero enhancements mentioned here, or at the least not noticeable. Gun play is very lack luster. POV in crouch mode gets easily broken where your camera crouches, but the character model (the arms/hands/gun) does not. Audio is boring. The fact that you can get over encumbered extremely quickly ruins the experience completely.

The price looks good, but avoid.

Only 45 minutes exploring, testing, doing things. ALL solo. It isn't frantic, but you do feel a bit of urgency to get things taken care of. This is something I look forward to playing with friends. The game just feels so methodical and focused.

Early Access Review
Obviously a passion project. Does that make it bad? In a word, NOPE! In another word, Hell no. Okay, that last one was two words, but you get the point. This oozes that indie charm that makes this title stand out. The adventures are fun, yet challenging. The base building provides replayability. The world has substance, and feels alive. It controls very well. It is just a fun first person RPG that you can sink some time in. I don't have the most time in it right now, but that is on me due to having a backlog (thanks Steam). When I do come back to the game, it is a constant reminder of the quality.

Perhaps this is just me, but it is just my opinion. I can not recommend this title. The campaign feels very unbalanced and notfun. The 3D space controls feel "off", and getting oriented is just jank. The title feels like it wants to be in a 3D space, but was built with a 2D flat plane. You can see the Home World inspiration in here, but Home World is it not. Being early access means that there is room for growth and adjustment. This game does have a LOT of potential. There is some legit fun to be had here. Just don't bother with the campaign. It definitely feels slapped on.

Man, what a throw back. Feels like a mix between Hexen/Heretic and Quake. Definitely scratches that itch for fast paced shooter action without a story that can get in the way and kill that momentum. Controls are tight and smooth, with a hint of momentum to keep you on your toes. Fun weapons that feel powerful and worth while. Visuals that have that retro look, but slathered in modern graphical goodies like great light and shadows, RTX support, and reflections. Visually everything is easy to see and make out without it all blending together. At US$20, this is a great price. If it is on sale, it is a steal.

Early Access Review
This is a very Early Access game. I would honestly call it an alpha experience. The dev seems to be putting out updates, but they aren't the fastest update releases. This sounds like either a small team, or a solo dev. For what is here, there is potential. However, it is really way too many bugs and issues with the game in its current state. Wishlist it. Keep an eye on it. See if the reviews change down the road.

Watch out DayZ and 7 Days to Die, SurrounDead is here to eat your brai.....uh...lunch. Seriously, this feels like a survival game. I had to learn the mechanics, and ignore the tutorial (which is actually helpful). And the low poly look honestly just has a charm that I enjoy. Definitely worth the $12 USD. Give it a shot, and you may find your new open world survival game. And as others have said, allowing for multiplayer would be fantastic. Nothing fancy, just something so I could invite friends into the game with. No live service non-sense.
