Apparently, the game was ORIGINALLY gonna be MLP: Fighting is Magic (yeah, no joke...) but wasn't able to due to copyright issues with Hasbro, so they teamed with another company and they made that game, which became pretty popular.
How I know this? KShrike, cool friend and the one that requested the voicepaks from the game, told me and learned as I went along. Honestly though... how can you turn a series like THAT into a fighting game? Can see why Hasbro didn't want it as a fighting game.
