This is an Omori review. For the majority of the review, I'll be avoiding spoilers, but towards the end, I will be talking about one of the endings, not necessarily the contents of it, but I will put a spoiler warning beforehand.

I'll start off by saying, I've fallen absolutely in love with this game. It's put me through so many emotions I haven't felt properly in such a long time. Omori is a cute, fully hand-drawn, psychological horror rpg. I typically avoid games like this, but around 6 years ago, when I watched the first trailer for this game, I've been hooked. The art style is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ phenomenal, to the point where I can't properly put it into words. Each, and I mean each and (almost) every character has their cute little appearances and personalities. But, despite how cute this game can easily get, it can get ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ terrifying farrrr more easily. And that's saying a LOT.

Each aspect of the game can go from cutesy, wholesome, and adorable, then straight to eerie, ominous, and frightening. The art, the dialogue, the setting, the music, all already meant to be impactful aspects to any game, feel so much more impactful here. I let myself get used to the wholesomeness of the game far too often, only to have my fear amplified once the fear hit.

Of course, this game being a psychological horror, it messed with my head, a LOT. I started to overthink just about each and every decision I made, whether they'd impact the run or not. I'd see one line of dialogue and I'd end up thinking about it for hours wondering what it meant and what it pertained to. The phrase, "Waiting for something to happen, aren't you?" Still haunts me now, even having finished the game.

You play as a character with a group of friends, all in the search of a lost friend. That's the furthest I'll say in that regard. As I said previously, I absolutely love the art style of the game. It heavily impacts the settings in such a way that I found myself standing still and taking in the scenery, which I do not often do in games. The music is absolutely stellar, even now, I'm listening to the soundtrack while I type out this review. I'm going on and on just typing my thoughts, so it may not be the best review, but its a review nonetheless. Some of the personalities of your friends in the games can be a bit simple, but they're incredibly charming and give life to each character, which is something I heavily appreciate.

Now, onto the

The ending which I got was the Good Ending. The entire sequence leading up to the ending was very satisfying, especially the fight sequence. I felt myself growing alongside the main character, overcoming his fears, as I pushed on, I started becoming far less scared of the occurrences that would otherwise cause me to scream and freak out. I became far less hesitant to push on, just as the main character himself did. To put it simply, the good ending was like a breath of air after drowning for ages. I became proud of the main character, which led me to become more proud of myself as well. This game, put me through of lot of emotions in just 20 hours. I could easily say the 6 and a half year wait was worth it just to experience those 20 hours. If I decided to get all of the achievements, it would be far more than 20, since I only obtained 24 out of the 84 achievements in the game.

Omori is one of my favorite games of 2020, and an amazing way to end off this mess of a year. Merry Christmas, and Happy New year.
