New edit as of 5/13/24: they're still removing Helldivers in any country that doesn't support PSN accounts. Sounds pretty anti-democratic, don't it? Moreover, sounds like they ain't done with this PSN BS, because why else WOULD they restrict it specifically in regions that don't support PSN accounts if not because they plan to still require them? I smell foul play from Sony yet again.

I am editing this review because Sony has rolled back their intended requirement to link a PSN account to play Helldivers 2. However, I feel it is important to forgive, but not forget, so I am leaving the old review below as well.

Helldivers is a fantastic game. The gameplay is fun, the to call the visuals cinematic would be an understatement, and the developers' attitude towards their live service game model is commendable. So far, everything from Arrowhead games is fantastic, and this game is worthy of the praise it has received. The only downside for me is that I have a hard time finding a friend group to play it with since most my friends already formed unofficial 4-person 'squads' that they play with typically, but that's no fault of the game, lol. Just my fault for getting the game rather late. Overall, a fantastic game. Would recommend.

Man, I wanna like this game. And I get that the situation is the fault of Sony, not Arrowhead. But I'll be damned if I'm going to be playing a game, and then get locked out AFTER the fact due to not linking a PSN account. To hell with that.
