EDIT NOW THAT I’VE FINISHED THE GAME:
I liked it a lot! Definitely a lot more scary than the last game. Like with CC, I’m a bit confused about some of the lore stuff in this game, but if I do some outside research I’m sure I’ll understand it a bit more. I liked how it expanded on the lore for CC even just a little bit with some sneaky, scary inclusions.

Some of the endings were really hard to get, and some of the requirements were downright confusing.

For some reason, the Gisela and the Alone endings took me multiple times of trial and error to get. The Gisela ending in particular. The spoiler hints for it in-game seem incorrect, because I did everything it told me to and I still didn’t get the ending. I had to resort to a guide and my own testing to get it.

But other than that I had fun! Definitely recommend getting Dread Weight if you liked Cooking Companions and/or DDLC.

~~~
Will update when I finish the game, but I’m not even an hour into the game because the atmosphere was already making me scared and I’d actually like to sleep tonight, so I turned it off. One thing I know for certain though:
I AM NOT TRUSTING GIRLS WITH RED HAIR. I LEARNT MY LESSON FROM COOKING COMPANIONS.
When they’re sharing the biscuits and there’s one left so they split it in half. And then the Owl splits his half so Eda can have a little more…
The relationship between Eda and the Owl made my heart feel warm.
Port Learn to Fly 1 and 2 onto Steam, and I will forgive this game for having a god-awful laggy mess of a menu.
So clearly, this one didn't end up being my cup of tea.
I've read through some of the Japanese reviews and I do agree - it's not really that interesting?
I feel that the description that's on Steam is really misleading to where this game goes. I was expecting something more adjacent to Danganronpa/Ace Attorney etc but it ended up being meta and all about a person's worth an existence in the world (without spoilers). Going from being in the interrogation room, to letting your 'murder suspect' go out into the world with your supervision (which, letting out a suspect when they're actively the suspect is a bit silly and unrealistic, lol), to *whatever* that ending was just made everything really muddy and confusing.
The last 1/4 of the game was interesting, but I didn't have the capacity to care because everything before that was basically uprooted and didn't matter.
Doesn't help that AI art is used in this game either. There were certain events where the AI art was used as a 'scare tactic', but since AI is soulless, it can't produce anything that could scare me, or anyone for that matter. 'This game contains AI generated contents. The graphic is generated by AI and fixed by human.'? It doesn't seem like it. All the art in the game except for the sprites made no sense. The AI art was just messy, it wasn't even edited to make it look like it wasn't AI, so it was more comical than anything.
This game tried to make itself deep and meaningful, but it ended up just falling flat.
I had imported the JPN physical copy of Future Tone DX back in the day when it originally came out and loved the arcade styled gameplay ever since. I do miss the console gameplay too, but something about learning and clearing harder charts with the arcade controls gives a satisfying result.
I didn’t think I’d see the day of Miku being ported to Steam as (other than Project Mirai and Mega Mix) SEGA had a massive grip on Miku being exclusively on PS. The day I saw the leak that MM+ would be on Steam was the day I knew anything was possible.
Now I never have to turn my PS4 on ever again! Unless I want to play Project Diva X… (please port that to Steam too and I’ll actually put in the effort to 100% it)
I love the dynamic soundtrack and soaring is extremely fun. I like the quirky characters, it reminds be a bit of Animal Crossing.
I think the only thing I don’t like about the game is the lack of a map, unless I’ve missed that option. I found myself getting lost trying to find specific areas of the mountain and getting a little bit irritated looking around for 5-10 minutes each time.
I'm actually pleasantly surprised how well this utilities tool has been gamified.
The options for customisation for your character and your room are very nice, the music is relaxing, and waiting for spirits to appear doesn't feel like a chore because you're listening to the mentioned relaxing music. When I 'play' games like this, I like to walk away with my headphones on and do something else and come and check in every once and a while for a short break, which the game encourages with its in-game timer.
Quite happy with this one! I hope the devs continue to update with more spirits to obtain and more items to buy. :)
I feel sorry for feeling this way, but this one felt a little bland and really long when it didn’t need to be. The tunnel sections in particular. I know the significance of having a very long tunnel and having it repeat, and it may seem like a good idea, but doing it over and over and over as gameplay is really boring. I think it really broke the game’s pacing and was making me very tired from how slow and repetitive it was.
Schizophrenia is ever hardly shown in any media, so it was surprising that this game was covering it. I didn’t even realise until I went through the diary.
Love the very pretty art and the music. Some parts are genuinely a bit spooky and one scene in particular is VERY uncanny.
It’s worth it to see all the endings, short and sweet little game!
