Tales of Arise definitely is inspired by/takes many mechanics from some of the greater arena and open world RPG games. Typically this would be a complaint but they managed to meld it all together extremely well. Feels a lot like if kingdom hearts and Final Fantasy 15 had a weeby baby.
PROS:
Fluid story
Memorable Characters
Multiple story Climaxes
Satisfying Combat
Fantastic transitional art/frame work and visuals

CONS:
Can feel a bit grind-y if you do not take your time
Some gear mechanics could be a bit less RNG/backtracking forced

If you want a refreshing, nostalgic, memorable RPG, this is for you.
TOA is a great example that new, solid RPGs can feel familiar and refreshing all at the same time.

It really caught me off guard.
I wouldn't have guessed this game would be such a tremendous experience.

Will never reccomend or support a game that implements DLC not included in season passes. Players should not have to read into the fine print of purchases of future DLC packs when you are already shelling out half of the cost of the original game on top of the original game price, just to get planned DLC. Planned DLC is bad enough to begin with. Make a full game worth paying for.
